My Mk2 Yaris Has A Strange Vin Number!

Just out of interest, I was wondering where my car was made, and what else is in the VIN number.

So I found a few vin checkers on the internet, but my vin keeps coming up as unrecognised, or incorrect.

The first 3, which should be country made, and manufacturer are VNK - but they all say this is not a recognised designation. One shows manufacturer as "Nummi"

The only others that come up with anything are:-

Type = Passenger car

Series = 9

Restraint = 2 Airbags (the mk2 has something like 11 doesn't it?)

Model line = Echo

Thats it, everything else just says 'unknown'

Other bits on the data sticker are:-

C/TR 1G3/FA18

A/TM 01A/C53A

Model NLP90R-CGGGXW

Anyone know what these mean, is some of that the paint code?

VNK is France I believe. Mine SR 1.4 D-4D VIN begins VNK too.

The 1.8 SR Yaris is made in Japan. All other Yaris are made in France.

So yours will be French.

Your Yaris has 9 airbags and the model line Echo is what the Yaris is known as in America and many other countries.

TR = trim spec

A = im not sure about

TM = Transmission i think
