ive done a check on what i can get to a full tank on my petrol 2.0 2001 rav4.i fill the tank up and then ran it til the fuel light came on and i was registering 360 miles on the trip meter.that seems pretty good to me!i could have ran it further but didnt want to risk running out altogether although i was carrying a spare can of fuel.

Does 360+ to the tank seem reasonable to other users? i'd be interested to know.

cheers

Reasonable??! REASONABLE! unbelievable I would have said :o

When I do a return run to my office - round trip of 250 miles - I can only just make it there and back even starting with a full tank :(

Hi there, have a 2.0 petrol I get 9.6l/100km = 25 mpg (around 500km/tank = 310 miles/tank) mostly motorway and some town motoring. Better half's 1.8 VVTi runs around 7.2l/100km = around 32 mpg (around 560km/tank = 350 miles/tank) mostly short/town, little motorway. Petrol in Ireland currently around €1.19/litre = 0.91 £/litre

Hi Robert - is your OH's 1.8VVTi a 4WD or 2WD?

Hoovie, it's a 2wd... The versions here in Ireland are different to UK. They only market the 4wd version now, though, I think the 4.2 in Ireland was the last that had a 2wd option. It's a super vehicle, though

wondering how much difference 2WD would make to economy - so maybe 10% I guess. My RAV4 will be coming over the Irish Sea in May I think :)

If you've not been before, there are some good roads, and there are some dreadful roads! Most people, but not all, drive on the left, sometimes with tragic consequences. Driving in the offside lane of a motorway is de riguer, whether or not there's any traffic in the nearside lane. Passing your driving test is optional, at least until June of this year. During an amnesty some years ago - I think that anyone driving for more than a few years was given a full licence, which is one way of reducing the backlog for tests. Learner drivers drive everywhere including motorways, mostly unaccompanied.

That said, it's a brilliant country with great people - so good, I married one of 'em

I would agree with all you say there

I have actually been to Ireland many times, mostly to the west coast (from Kerry all the way up to Donegal) - the drive around Dingle is very nice indeed.

Last time I came over was for a funeral couple of years ago IIRC (and actually year before that for funeral as well :( )

Great place to drive, especially in the right car - took my HR-V over twice to have a bit of a tour around and that did a pretty nice job. The RAV4 should be even better B)

Oh, and I 'sort of' married one as well (but a plastic version ;) )
