Celica Vvtli 190 Problems

Hi,

I haver recently had a replacement Re-con engine fitted to my 2001 celica 190 (2zz-ge).

I picked the car up from Birmingham on Saturday 23/2/2008 and drove 250 miles to Newcastle. The car seemed fine but i was told to take it easy to start with as it was llike a new engine. Due to this i couldn't take the revs high enough to see if the lift was working.

While the garage had my car they told me that the vvti sensors needed replaced and the O2 sensors as the ones off my previous engine were broken. These were replaced and as i say the car seemed ok driving home.

On Sunday 24/2/2008 i started the car to find the engine management light on. I took it to local garage today 25th and put it on diagnostic machine and it didn't bring up specefic codes. It only brought up on screen (Manufacturers specifications) which was not really any help. The light was cleared and after about a mile it came back on...

I have now had the car to toyota and they have told me that it is the lift sensor or the ecu. Diagnostic codes

P1692/39

P1693/39

Does anyone have any sort of information on this as i have spent too much on this car to be spending too much more.

Also any price of a reprogram on my ECU.

Also the engine used to rev over 8000 but now only revs to 7000 the limiter cuts in..

Many thanks

Steven Thompson

Hi

I also have a engine light on plus ABS lol and warning so its all go LOL

I got my celica in 2001 and it had done 21k about 2 years ago when i was come n round a island and as i came off it and hit the light the bottom end blew up :-( all because the oil light never came on so i did not think to check

The car went into toyota and before this i had it on the dyno and it came out at 191.7 hp :) the engine had a bottom end re-build witch they charged 2 grand :-( and when the car came back so i had it put back on the dyno because it felt slow only to find it was only running 174.2 hp i went back to toyota and they said the lift valve looked damaged but because it was not showing as a fault they would not change it .. since then i have spent alot of money on the car to get the power back now i am on 207.5hp

If anyone knows were i can get a lift valve from or a up-rated one so i can get the lost power back would be greatful :-)

I think the reason my dash light are on may be due to de-cat and custom 3" pipe all down and INJEN CAI witch the lan simulator is ment to fix but it dont and also because i have a apexi neo on the ecu

But the toyota celica ecu i found out overrides any add on witch may be while i have engine and warning lights on so i am now selling the neo and getting a complete new apexi power FC ecu witch should solve that prob and alow more engine running :-)

but if anyone could let me also know what els the power loss may be from cuz i doubt very much it will be all to do with the lift valve that controls the oil pressure to push the pin to change the cams

anyway new ECU

New 4-2-1 down pipe

lift valve

tune

valve springs

have the lift point lowered

and ported and polished

Trd clutch

Light weight 7lbs balanced fly wheel

My aim is for about 235hp

:-)

then after that im going to have to look at a SC or turbo to get more power :-p
