Can't See What Gear I Am In

Just got my new XT-R VVT-i Auto. It's great, but I have one small problem. In the dark, I can't see what gear I am in. The letters (P, R, N, D-3 etc) are illuminated but I can't see exactly where the automatic gear lever is. I suppose I will get used to it, but it seems odd. Other automatic Toyota's that I have had did not have this problem.

Welcome to the forum. Dunno if others have this problem. With my older RAV, I have a problem cos some of the wee bulbs in the dash have gone oot. Will renew them but in the meantime need to remember where the heater controls are.

You could try getting a luminous gear lever knob - they sell them at Sellafield. Or a fitting fur the cigar lighter which glows a wee bit in the dark.

Or do as anchorman does and shut yer eyes til the warning beep goes aff when theres a signal ahead?? (Frontal radar required)

Yes I've heard this before. For some strange reason the uS models have the selected gear up on the dash but Uk madels don't. Perhaps we have more daylight than our US friends?

Bothy. Are you suggesting my eyes should be open when driving?

Or come and sit next to me.................I was stationary on the M6 the other day, after the Thelwall viaduct had been blocked with a lorry that had fallen over..........I looked left to the lorry in lane one and there was a huge radioactive sticker on the side  I was alongside it for half an hour

I'm gonna check if anything glows in the dark tonight :D:

Kingo

Sorry - is that not in the contractual terms?? Or an added extra now banned on cost grounds?

The London Dockland railway goes 1 better - the driver can go shopping and leave the train tae get oan wi it!
