Towing With Verso T180

Hi all,

I am joining the caravan brigade and I know that might annoy some but hey its good for the kids-gets them back to nature etc.. but I want to know just how good my t180 2.2dcat will be for towing.manual sez shes good for 1300kg-wat if i'm slightly over that?is there safety factors?economy is not that great anyway so that is something i'll just have to live with but can I still pull this weight with 2 adult passengers and 3 small kids in back?

Here a reply from the Netherlands. After the UK, no. 2 in the world according the caravan brigade position.

I'm driving since Jan 10th 2008 a verso 2-2D Cat t180 Verso and I can tell you, its driving perfect.

Your mentioned (a bit over) 1300Kgs caravan is in deed a bit over the maximum towing weight. I don't understand why this car may only hook-on 1300Kgs (Dutch maximum) because this engine can tow much more. Your two adult passengers and two kids, no worry for this car.

What can be a problem is, if something happens (even not causing an accident by your selfs) you can get an insurrance problem.

So take, if you can the heavy stuff in your towing car an see that you get your caravan on the about maximum of 1300Kgs.

Not many cars will have less problems towing a 1300Kgs caravan. This 177 BHp engine with its 400Nm torque pull's your combination over any highway, road, mountan, bridge or whatever. This engine wants to "eat a caravan".

This is one of the reasons I bought this car. No worrys, no problem with towing, stable combination, perfect brakes etc.

If you want to buy a caravan in the Netherlands, the caravan dealer always first asks you, "what car do you drive". If you say A Verso T180, he smiles because he knows he can sell you almost every size of caravan.
