Should I Buy An Aygo?

Recommended Posts

Guys,

I’m planning to change my current car soon and the Aygo is high on my list of replacements. I’m a bit concerned, though, that I’ll get the same problems with leaks as mentioned by others on this forum. OK, I know it’s not a big thing, but it would still be hassle I’d really rather avoid and makes me wonder if I’d be better off with a Ka or Fox. So the question I’ve got is: how many of you have NOT had problems with leaks, or had problems but got them fixed in one go?

I'd sooner have a leaking Aygo than a Fox or a Ka! :bag:

NO PROBS WHATSOEVER HERE!!!!! Luv my ickle Aygo :D

No problems whatsoever with my Blue :)

No leaks what-so-ever...

You have to remember one thing: people who are disgruntled or dissatisfied

with something are MUCH more likely to speak up thatn thos with no problems...

It's just like going to the dentist: you never hear anyone say they've "enjoyed"

a root canal, but you DO hear stories from people suffering with pain from one...

Wasn't this a different issue for three- and five-door cars? All the three-door owners are saying no problem here, but it is the rear doors where the problem seems to be?

Paul.

No issues for me either at all, love it reccommend it to anyone :D, and has for the Ka or the Fox

I actually HAVE a 5dr car. I believe the problem was said to

be in the seals for either the doors or the flappy windows...

No issues for me either and like every one else I love my Aygo

I've just got rid of a KA (sportke se) and have no regrets, well just wish i'd got rid of it sooner.

id rather have the aygo for comfort...

i previously owned a ka, 5 years old and rust... EVERYWHERE!

both cars are fun to drive, but the ka drinks petrol and is no faster than the aygo.. also cheaper to insure!

Agreed look on ANY forum and you will find some problems.

I've had no leaks and it's nearly 3 years old.

Also the AYGO is the LEAST depreciating car around.

VAG cars are nice for first 3 years..........

I'd go for a Fiat 500 over the KA or FOX......... or Aygo C1 107 for the ultimate in low cost A-B transport.

My 5 dr aygo doesnt leak (touch wood)

Plus points for aygo - combined fuel consumption 60mpg, fox and ka mid 40's. Also the fox and Ka do not fall into the £35 tax band. And most importantly the aygos parcel shelf isnt made from pineapples like the foxs' :jawdrop:

Only had my 5 door Platinum a week & no problems with leaks so far. We have had storms, rain revery day, hailstones & a flooded harbour. If it was ever going to leak it would have done so this week. I read a lot of reviews before buying the Aygo, as I hadn't driven for a number of years & could not beat it in it's class. Iam over the moon with it. Done 200 miles in the first week & can't get enough of it. Will be out early tomorrow for a quick wash & a spin round town. The petrol seems to last forever, low tax & low insurance - what else do you need???? :toast:

This is well worth mentioning- not just for cars but any consumer product with a forum to back it up. You only hear about things when they go wrong!

I've never driven a Fox but I've driven a Ka. Test drive the Aygo if you haven't already. It's worth it :yahoo:

My Aygo had a soggy bum (AKA a damp boot) and it turned out to be me driving somewhat, erm, frisky through a flooded road.

Then I've had a whining sound from the engine recently- it's going into Mr T to be fixed Monday.

Otherwise, I freaking love my Aygo. Yes it's cheap and cheaply made, but it's no frills motoring! Less to go wrong. It's body- backside- engine- stereo- off ya go.

From new, for the price, you won't do better. I spent a LONG time sizing up my first car and I've never had a doubt as to my choice since buying.

5door , nearly three (ive owned it nearly 1 ) and have had no problems ... i love everything about my ickle aygo ... even the extra long aieral (meh i cant spell) and the non-flat wiper blade

If i was buying from new , id pick the aygo over a Ka anyday!!!

Had my blue for just over a week and done 250 miles and the only thing i've need to get done

Have heard of probs with the glove boxes, this is why I've put off getting one

7,000 miles, 18 month old, 5 door Sport, Carbon Quartz, only thing it has suffered from was next door neighbours' Merc reversing into the drivers door. Door replaced, and even then still no leaks from anywhere. No glove box lid, no problem. No sticky tailgate button, not even found the need to change the original Wiper Blades.

Brilliant little car, even had a letter from dealer that sold me it asking me if I want to sell it back to them (only so's he can flog me a new one of course). :D

Group 1 insurance, tank of petrol per month, averaging about 390 miles on a tank, (depends on how I'm driving), £35 a year Road Tax........ no contest really.

When the time comes, I'll certainly have another one.

(One thing I have just noticed as well is that it certainly makes cars sit back from you at junctions in the dark as the indicators are so bright at night!!!! he-he-he...... :P )

I got my glovebox lid fixed on my Blue aygo under warranty- there's a new catch for them which the dealers should have the changed it be 2mm.

Its always been a toss up between a Smart For Two or an Aygo and now that the new For Two is out I so want one of those but it is going to cost me about £12K to get what I want and this kind of goes against the ethos of 'cheap' city motoring.

So do not know what to do (and as a !Removed! man the fact that there are no rear seats, never going to have kids, is not gong to make the difference)

What would you do - Aygo Blue with the Toyota body kit, centre exhaust and alloys (about £10K) or go with the 84bhp Passion Smart with all the goodies including the Brabus sports pack and flappy paddle gear change, for an additional £2K?

didn't have a nice buying experience at snotty mercedes, plus high charges for servicing/parts etc. I will miss my 'lil smartie, but will drive home in a Blue tomorrow :)

Well it seems that you can get one of those servicing packages with most new cars now so I would pay for that on either car and therefore servicing charges would not be a factor - oh I don't know, Aygo Blue or a Brabus'd up Smart Passion

Thanks for all your comments. Looks like it's time to book a test drive...
