4wd Problems

Hi everyone - I have a problem with the 4WD on my 1994 3.0 Hilux Surf.

I've checked and changed the VSVs on OS engine bay, as well as the two that are located at the back of the engine bay near the bulkhead. I've checked all the vacuum pipes, connections, connectors, power, diff oil level, everything - and the only thing I haven't been able to check is the 4WD control relay box located behind the dash under the stereo.

Basically, these are the symptoms:

Engine off - press 4WD button on transfer lever - hear the relay engage but no light on the dash - press button again, hear relay go off

Engine on - press 4WD button on transfer lever - hear relay click on, then a few seconds later, hear the relay go off, this continues, but the relay finally stops clicking with it off - although, the first time, when stationary the relay only clicks on and off once, when you start to move, it clicks on and off a lot - and even more when pressing the brake pedal, which I assume is because the 3.0 gets the vacuum from the brake servo, not a vacuum tank.....

Can anyone help me diagnose this so I can get it working again????

It wont go into 4wd properly until you start moving, so maybe it's not been used for a while and is a bit sticky, do not use 4wd on tarmac.
