I believe the running in period is 600 miles. Can anyone advise what I should / should not be doing in this period. The dealer said there is not really a running in time with Toyotas & just to drive it as in normal circumstances from the off. All your comments on this will be appreciated.

I was told this by the dealer too, just to drive it normally, but I kept the revs below 4k as much as I could for a while just in case.

Drive gently and avoid high speeds. Your vehicle does not need eloborate break-in. But following a few simple tips for the first 600 miles can add future economy and long life to your vehicle:

Avoid full throttle acceleration when starting and driving

Avoid racing the engine

Try to avoid harsh stops during first 200 miles

Do not drive slowly with the manual transmission in gear

Do not drive for a long time at any single speed, either fast or slow

Okay am going to read the rest of the manual now :D
