Hello and welcome to TOC

I have owned a 1.0 Yaris ION since September 06

The ION was a Toyota limited edition marketed to break the £8000 price barrier. (£7995)

The 1.0 litre 3 cylinder award winning lightweight engine is shared with the Aygo/ C1/107 (and some other Jap cars) and has proven to be very reliable and economical, constantly returning 54MPG and even managing 70+ MPG on one occasion. Because of the extra body weight The Yaris ION does not qualify for the £35 road tax that the Aygo achieves.

The 1.0 litre engine is incredibly nippy for its size and is capable of cruising all day at the legal limits.

The exhaust note from the 3 cylinder engine is a raspy "sporty" sound which I personally like, the low down torque from the engine is more than capable with keeping up with all but the fastest of cars in the town, and climbs hills with minimum effort.

The ION was available in Chilli Red (My Choice) and Silver metallic at £350 more. I think that Toyota did produce a few in White, but I have never seen any on the road.

The ION was based on the base T2 base model but has all the home comforts that you need in a budget car. (Twin airbags, central locking, electric windows, split rear seats which slide back and forward to provide extra space for passengers or luggage, and the famous Yaris fold flat rear seats to provide a completely flat rear loadspace in seconds.)

The ION comes with an RDS radio and CD player.

I chose the ION as I had previously owned a T3 1.0 litre Yaris with the 4 cylinder engine. The ION has been a great improvement over the MK 1 Yaris.....................something that I would have not thought possible.

Good luck with your new Yaris ION................I hope that you have many happy miles of good motoring

Thanks for the reply. The one i am going to buy is an 06 plate Silver Metallic (Didnt think that it would cost more for silver!) What is the road tax by the way?

Everything sounds good so far though. I think ive made a good choice.

Cannot remember cost of road tax.............£95 seems to ring a bell.............car is safely tucked up in garage

It has 127 grams of carbon so is in higher band than same engined Aygo

Just looked online. Road tax is £120 so not too bad. Have you (Or anyone for that matter) had any problems or have any niggles with the car?

From what you have said it seems quite a sound and econimical car to run around in. Is it easy to drive? whats the clutch & gears like?

Thanks again

Here's a review

ION review

Thanks for that.

I have decided to go ahead. Will sign the loan agreement this Friday at the dealership. Then probs have the car delivered to me on Tuesday/Wednesday next week.

Cant wait now. Just hope i can remember how to drive. I passed my test in October 2006 and have never been behind the wheel since due to buying my first house and having no money.

Hope this is easy to drive! :)
