Its %$(ing band G!!! £400 just to tax next year!!! And the RX8's are something silly too...I much as i dont really like diesel cars...im tempted to push the boat out and get something like a new Civic Type S 2.2 diesel if this is the way its going from now on....But i fell in love again with the T-Sport today, nothing beats the noise and grunt of a high revving petrol engine on backroads on a summers day....

Update.....FALSE ALARM!! Sorry its £210.00 for the year....back of the net!!

Nearly certain my logbook said G.....

Well i know that this year it is £210...next will be £260.... The band G is for cars over 255 g/km... CTS is not that bad.... Its only 198g/km mate.

But still, i have let mine go for a diesel for the same concerns as yours... On top of it benig in-efficient.

Thansk BlackCTS.

Haha....I must admit i had the same reaction to your's when i saw the budget, hence the BIG time impulse change of car. But i think in the long term it will make sense. I just got to wean myself off of the lift this week, because DAMN I WILL MISS IT.

I will put some pics up when i get it.

It's ridiculous.

I've even been considering buying a diesel. :crybaby: :crybaby:

Petition Here.

Hi Jock,

Just changed from CTS to Auris T180... I thought i will stay 1 step in front without compromising too much in performance. Or to be honest, i can no longer afford to run the CTS with the mileage that i do, and the mileage was piling on crazy for a 4 year old car.

Anyway, i was a diesel sceptic before but its definietly worth considering.

I swapped my beloved CTS for a new Yaris diesel for the very same reasons. Miss LIFT big style, although the Yaris is suprising nippy and has good torque. I don't miss the running cots of my old CTS. I was spending £120-odd a month in petrol, £210 a year in tax and over £300 insurance. Now it's £50-odd a month in diesel, £35 a year in tax and under £200 insurance. B) My old CTS is still on the dealers forecort. I think they are becoming harder to sell due to the costs compared to diesels. :(

Diesels are taking over...they are making small 1.4 turbo diesels now and they have a nice push aswell.

and alot of them are good top cars. Which can keep up nicely with petrol engines or even better!

making me consider to taxgoing up...but have you seen the price of petrol atleast with a diesel its expensive at about £1.12 a litre but youll get more mileage petrol at my local bp is £1.08 a £10 top up when i first bought the car would push the needle quite well....them few pennies more have made that movement even less!

Yeah, why is diesel so expensive? Is it just market demand driving the prices up? Or is the government's doing?

I will see if i get a good return with the Auris, i certainly hope so.

Mind you, despite the lower insurance group (13) i will be paying more than my CTS! My insurer saids that it is because of higher engine capacity and newer car...Is this right???

Scoob, seeing your list of cars you are a proper PETROL HEAD, not a diesel head.

Hi Tsport!

No, that was for PETROL, the ultimate diesel was more!! I wonder if it is down to demand as there are a lot of diesels these days?

Although I’m not so sure….

I keep getting emails about boycotting certain fuel suppliers like BP to cause them to lower prices to tempt customers back, which will in theory start a price war causing a universal drop in price. The problem with that is the government takes however much tax (70%ish??) so the petrol companies aren’t charging too much really, when you think say 30p in a pound. I’m all for going ‘green’, and I might be way off here, but my personal feeling is that the government has finally twigged that they can charge what ever they like in terms of fuel and road taxes in the name of the environment and you just can’t question it. :censor:

Hmmm, I had a feeling they’d be around the same to insure just for the reasons they’d said ironing out the lower insurance group. I’m sure you’ll sharp get it back in fuel costs though!! :D

Cheers mate, indeed I am! :D I’m just at that age where one must finally grow up…. :(
