Hi guys, i am thinking of buying this celica, but on the ad it says that the problem with the car is that it has a tapping noise on over-run acceleration! what does this mean? its a 1999 CELICA 1.8 VVti 140bhp version! what could it be guys? any help appreciated!!

it could be anything would have to listen to it to pinpoint the noise,but could be the chain,exhaust mani or bottom end,get it checked out properly before you buy(read all the posts on here about 1zz engines of that year)

If they are specifying a problem in the add I wouldn;t go near it, plenty of good examples out there.

Agreed - there are plenty of 7th gen's in excellent condition - with a car that age, you should expect a good one.
