Hi, I pick up my new Auris 1.6 TR MMT in a few days time. I know the garage will be offering me a service plan and would like to know what would be a reasonable cost for a 3 or 5 year plan. It seems to vary so much between dealers. I know it fixes the service prices for the length of the plan but how does it compare and are there any advantages/disadvantages to just paying as you go. Any advice would be welcome. I estimate my annual milage would be 6-9000 mls.

My (Toyota) dealer offered me a plan I thought looked good however my dad called up and asked for the costs individually. Individually was cheaper!

I paid for my £350. I think that is a good price for three years service . The first service is 120 ("small service") and you do not need to worry about inflation B)

Looks like your car will be making one trip to the dealers every twelve months then, as anything up to 10,000 miles per annum is just one check on each aniversary.

For my T180 that I collected in September 2007 the service plan for three years was £15 per month (0% APR) for 31 months.

For my SR180 that I collected just a week ago, the service plan had increased in price by £150, so the monthly costs were dearer thanks to increases in costs at the dealer. In this case the dealer made a good will contribution towards the cost to reduce the montly payments to those similar to the T180.

One of the benefits is that you pay a small contribution a month, rather than suddenly having to find £100 - £200 for a service when it's due. The 0% APR is quite handy too!

I guess the disadvantage is that you're paying "up front" for a service you have yet to recieve.

Hey All,

Servicing costs are something I would like ot know about as I am considering changing my current car and the SR180 has the looks & performance to make me consider it, but I need to look at the whole package.

I know we cant really be specific but on average what is the normal cost of servicing for the first 3 years or while the car is in warrenty for instance? Afterwards it isn't too much of a problem as it would be easier (& cheaper) to go elsewhere, but the first 3 years are obviously important.

So far I have come across one place offering an A service for about £120 and a B for around £200, using genuine parts and not effecting the warrenty.

Thanks.

Benefits

Fixed at todays prices

0%

Payable via monthly installments (still 0%)

You can budget for your service without the worry of a large bill in 12 months time

We at Lindop's additionally provide, free loan car or collection/delivery, 10% off accessories and fitting, plus discount on any additional mechanical work, PLUS 1st MOT free (These are our own additions, not a national deal although some will offer additional benefits)

Downside

You are paying retail prices for your service

Monthly fee to cover

Remember, not everybody is in the position of being able to pay out £150-£250 in one go, they are not able to put money away to cover costs, some people like the monthly plan so there are no shocks at service time

Anybody also considered having a full service done each time its serviced, instead of the Minor,Major,Minor that Toyota employ on servicing? Whilst I am sure they have the experience to determine when a car should be serviced I think I will be getting a full service done at each interval, I drive my car normally most of the time, but under hard acceleration etc, I want all fluids etc in tip top condition.

I am picking up my new 1.6TSpirit next week B)

I was quoted £425 for a three year plan, which includes two minor services and one major. Not cheap, however it was eventually thrown in as part of the deal

Thats no excuse for Toyota garages charging more. I call it a rip off. Charge the same as 3 services now and earn the money of the interest and guaranteed custom.
