What Oil To Use?

Hello all,

I've read on here that during the first 10k miles, the Rav4 often needs oil "top ups". In preperation for that, what oil should I be using in my 2.2 D-4D?

Any good brand........5w30 or 40 semi synthetic is fine

What brand name is recommended to use for the Rav? Castrol, etc

Also, is it not worth getting fully synth, rather than part synth? Or does it not really make a difference in the Rav?

Service manager at my local dealership advised Castrol MAGNATEC 5W-30 A1.

then a vehicle search although the first choice oil appears to be Castrol EDGE TURBO DIESEL 0W-30

You are only required to use 5W-30 semi synthetic oil. I use Morris's oil but its only a personal choice thing. Don't spend an arm and a leg on fully synthetic and if you look up a local motor factor you should be paying about £15 to £18 for 5 litres.

Anchorman is right,a good 5/30 semi or full synthetic wil do,note that if your car is fitted with a Dcat a low ash content oil must be used,
