Hi All,

Looking to add some bling to my new Carbon Quartz XTR. Can't decide whether side bars or steps look better.

Maybe neither and and go for roof rails instead?

Def side steps as I think they stand out more than the bars - I have them on our T180 and they finish it off imo ;)

I am also considering some roof rails - please see my earlier posted poll!! B)

And there was me thinking the more understated but polished chrome sidebars looked quite nice. What do I know.

Looks like a side steps whitewash at the moment!!. Trouble is the brother in law has steps on his rav

and I was looking to make mine look better. :D :D

Just to add to my earlier response...side steps also have the added benefit of being practical as well!! ;) Don't worry about the brother in law...out do him with some roof rails along with the steps!!! lol :P

Not sure why you can't open the link, but here it is again: http://www.direct4x4.co.uk/index.php?p=vie...;product_id=595

Basically side-bars, with steps in them.

Managed to open the link now....I personally don't those!!! Full side steps look much better imo!! ;)

ADDED benefit of sidesteps and roofrails, you dont need to stand on a chair to wash the roof if your a shortrrrrrrs, like those on link and nice wheels and tyres too

I've just got my Carbon Quartz XT-R, and I'm ordering the steps this morning! When I get them, I'll snap some pictures so you can have a look at what they look like.

I have bars on my 2005 RAV4, but voted for Steps

Are the supports actually strong enough to support any real weight?

I always saw these things - bars especially - as more a protection against damage to the sills if rock-scrambling or the like (not that the typical RAV4 owner would subject their vehicle to that :) )

The brackets that hold the steps on are very sturdy, they might even hold Dave_M up :D: :D:

Anyway, steps win in my vote, and when you read this Dave, your steps will be winging there way!

Steps for me as I think they will go a long way to stopping crud and tar getting flung up the doors.

Just a word of caution on that direct 4X4 place. The front fogs they supply are defo not "e" approved. I don't know if steps have to be but its worth checking they don't contravene any regs first.

The Genuine Toyota ones also make provision for jacking as the original jacking points are lost.

Toyota genuine accessories will never be the cheapest, just like any other manufacturer.

What you do get is a quality product, designed specifically for your car, AND they will ALWAYS meet with "e" marks and type approval when required, something that aftermarket suppliers don't often supply

Oh, and they will fit properly as well :D:

And when you buy em off Kingo, you get a discount, how good is that? ;)

Kingo

How easy are the steps to fit yourself? Are there any guides? Or is it simple when you see them?

Easy to fit, should come with fitting instructions. If not you can get them off Toyota techy site.

TNT do a good line in carrier pigeons.........They will soon be with you Dave :D:

Just hope they can find you, I have been chasing up a delivery today to the small fishing village of Folkstone  It appears Folkstone may be in a black hole as far as TNT are concerned
