The sound from the standard stereo/speakers is quite poor in the aygo. Would a simple change of Speakers make much of a difference? I don't want to change the head unit. If so what size are the front Speakers and how hard is it to do?

Front Speakers are 4" Speakers aka 10". Mine were pretty easy to replace the only hard part is getting the screws out as they are in a tight spot. I replaced the whole thing alot better :)

Just Speakers makes a good improvement. I tested it before fitting the head unit.

The widscreen speaker screws are very easy, just use a spanner as they are hex head screws and a very rough thread.

Rear speaker on 3 door take about 5 mins each side, on the 5 door you have to remove the door cards.

The Speakers you buy for the front will need two of the mounting tabs cutting off, some Speakers are designed to do this, my kenwoods were.

IMHO the main problem with the Speakers is their bandwidth...

Fitting better Speakers with separate tweeters will improve your sound, but it will still

lack proper bass. I replaced my Head Unit with a 2003-Top-of-the-Line after-market

unit from Kenwood with the original Speakers and a subwoofer.

Being High-End the HU allowed me to set X-overs, killing anything below 80Hz to the

original speakers and sending that to the sub. Makes one hell of a difference too.

I just bought another HU as the 2003-model has gone bust, this one is Top-of-the-Series,

hopefully it will zound just as good, if it doesn't, I'm replaceing the front 4"s with better ones,

I won't even touch the rears, as I only have them playing at about 15% as rearfill...

well i changed my headunit and for standard Speakers I think there cracking sound for a factory fit!

there certainly not audiophile quality.

Gotta new headunit now. Pioneer bluetooth and the sound quality has doubled.

Any questions about what to do just ask. With reguarding the audio & warrenty Toyota won't replace anything thats gone wrong with stuff you have replaced but if it in the engine bay and you HAVE changed something then the warrenty is void.

Replacing headunits etc.. is so commonplace now anyway they don't even take a second look. My friends one was being fixed for something and he came back to the garage to collect it to find them playing his stereo quite loudly (with upgrades).

Thanks, Daft Punk FTW. I will try and get a small vid of my new headunit today as I feel it is much clearer than when I made this vid.
