Hi all,

Bottom line is I went to the filling station, took my eye off the ball an put 5ltrs of unleaded in my 2.4 TD Surf before I realised what I was doing.I imeditely put 35ltrs of diesel in,then drove the 2 miles home.I was going to put another 18-20ltrs of diesel in today and hope for the best but thought I'd best check on the site first.Yeah I know I'm an total ***** and should have paid attention but I hold my hands up and its done.Pleeeeeeeeeeeeez can anyone give me a "Yeah it'll be O.K"? Failing that, whats the chances of getting away with it,if none what do I do? :(

5 ltrs mixed in with 35 ltrs, wouldn't do that much I would've thought. It's not great, but I think you should get away with it. I know that if it was a tank full of petrol, you'd be looking at a rebuild.

It'll be fine, the engine check light may come on though, but at least you'll know why. Just add more diesel when you can.

At least you'll have lovely clean injectors!

I did the same with a landrover...had no problem..in fact it ran better! It cleans the injectors in the process so you should be fine.

if the vehicle is direct injection you will be needing new injectors and in best practice a complete new fuel system, working for bmw i see this all the time and it usually costs a lot, the difference being petrol is not self lubricating so there fore causing problems with the high pressure system, i dont have much experience with indirect injection engines so i dont know how they would be effected

hope this helps Jay
