hi peeps,

My previa has been running fine, using it every day due to large family but then......... she just wont start. now normally i would just go ahead and change the starter with what she doing, all ignition lights on not starting not even 'clicking' but she not long had new one put on so thought maybe one of wires had come off but that's not the case. also inside my door (drivers) there is a central locking switch that normally works but is not now after looking through book found something called fuse links?? after looking at those two of them look greenish and one i would say looks like it my have blown altogether would this cause this please please help if you can many thanks

My friend, if you have what appears to be blown fuses then change them first and then come back and ask more questions if it does not resolve the issue. In the majority of cases people like to delve into the complicated when the solution lies in the simple and obvious.

hi again,

Yes thought that was just wondering if those big fuses would cause that but it seems not took them out one at a time and checked still wouldn't start but also took out more electrics. but you'll be pleased to know she going again now ( well maybe?? ) tested the starter with a wire direct from Battery to ignition side of starter and it spun up when all connected back up she started first time?? been using it all day and seems OK but keeping wire in car just in case :)

The copper contacts in these starters are notorious for burning out but typically you can still hear the click of the solenoid kicking in. As you stated you could not I would perhaps hazard a guess at either a bad earth or even perhaps the starter relay which you will find under the steering wheel.
