Does that mean your wife is 11 and weighs a couple of tonnes?

Huge job, certainly not for the DIY mechanic. MR2 turbo is RWD, Celica GT4 is 4WD. Your Celica is FWD, so huge work to be done. Lots of people convert for example NASP Rovers to turbo Rovers. That is a relatively big job, similarly dropping a turbo engine into an Escort is alot of work. Both of those examples are already in the desired drive layout, FWD and RWD respectively. I am not familiar with any 2L turbo Toyota that is FWD (diesels aside), so really you would be better off buying a GT4 if you want a turbo Celica. In saying all that there is probably some kit available on eBay, probably a supercharger though.

do you want the turbo for a dump valve or to make it faster, if it's to make it faster i'd consider just getting a super charger, they are usually an easier option. not to mention no turbo lag so more power down low which will make the car feel generally faster.

  • 3 weeks later...

the ST model is normally a 1.8st which has an engine code 7A-FE and you CANT get a supercharger for it plus you CANT get a turbo kit from eBay either, you cant actually buy a Celica ST turbo kit from anyone.

but, the corolla has the same engine code 7AFE and you cant buy a turbo for this. obviously the car is different but they both have the same engine so apart from a few manifold modifications the kit does actually fit.

the kit will cost you around 1600 and anything up to a grand for fitment including tuning (the ECU will not need replacing but the fuel/air ratio will need to be adjusted as a fuel regulator is supplied).
