Clutch Problems?

My wife's Celica is about to go in for its third clutch. No sign of deterioration just lots of burning all of a sudden and no drive. No problems with selection, just no drive as the clutch peddle is released.

Car has now done a gentle 32k and is on a 52 plate. She isn't a racer and one of my pet hates is riding the clutch peddle so I've taught her well.

1st clutch was replaced on 18k. So this one has lasted 14K and two and a half years. Toyota main serviced and replacements.

Any one else had a similar problem?

Initial reaction is driver related, unless you have loads and loads of really steep hills around your way. In saying that clutches in driver school cars last longer than that so it may well not be the driver. Strange one, sorry I can't help you more (not that my comments are any wy helpful anyway  )

i know this may sound stupid as ubik but its happened to me, on my old car which was french and went through 2 gearboxes and a few clutches.

but i bought a sports clutch for it which was all double springed and nice until it blew on my about 6 months after getting it fitted, and it blew on me on my birthday in a petrol station where you have to drive to the window to pay....

thank god my father told me how to rev change so i could pull away and get down the road.

anway being skint at the time i thought screw it ill do it myself. and to my absoloute horror when i looked at the clutch pieces were falling off, those nice shiny double springs at snappe and twisted, the first thing i noticed is that the clutch had been put on the wrong way.

so it comes down to this

dodgy clutch,

high revs when pulling away from a junction

riding the clutch whilst driving

or clutch has been fitted wrong
