89 Corolla Wont Start, Help

Hello. I really need some help with this one. My 89 Corolla (automatic) just died on my while I was driving the other night. The car seems to run fine up to 45mph and then when it switched to overdrive, the car just died. The check engine light came on and when I tried to start the car, it wouldn't start. If I understand the term correctly, the engine did turn over. When I try to start the car, the engine makes some kind of noise sort of like its cranking and I see the belts spin, but just would not start. New spark plugs, new Battery, so any help would be appreciated.

your engine managment light is on, id bring it to a mechanic - could be numerous things, best to get it checked on computer to find which sensor cause the light to come on.
