£290? thats a !Removed! bargain!. My local Mr T tried chargin me £490 for just a cambelt change. My cambelt didnt even need changing either was perfectly fine got changed when I bought the car. They determined a 'chafing' sound was the timeing belt on its way out. Was really just a worn alternator belt. Dodgy lot they are <_<

lol! true but I enquired why the price difference was so great on cambelt changes and I found out some places kinda 'move' the engine rather that drop the engine(expensive but 100% perfect). The movement method(cheaper one) is not advised as it can create clutch judder etc when everything is put back together(doesnt ever fit back 100%).

I phone 5 different Mr Ts and they all quoted the same £495 apparently to do it properly and safely it has to be the engine drop method. You guys should find out about that perhaps?

Mine is in the Dealer in St Albans at the mo, anyone know if they are any good? ;)

Andrew Rowley are OK but not the cheapest. They usually clean your car when they have had it and theres free coffee !

Service Mgr is a nice bloke - sales people a bit less friendly (IMO).

Yeah if you are in Herts then Hills of Bishops Stortford are about the cheapest - Rayleigh in Essex are about the best all round but a bit further to travel.

BTW - Currie Motors Barnet and Watford - well there not for me (can't say too much in a PUBLIC forum).

I am in Welwyn so it depends how much cheaper, cos obviously St Albans are much closer. Will have the car back tuesday, if the job is a good one then I ain't too bothered about the price. Just want my car back! Got a terrible Yaris at the mo. :(
