Spare Wheel

Hi

I fitted 17 inch alloys to my Gen 7 Celica and I was wondering if anyone knows of any type of wheel, alloy or steel that I could use for a spare. At present I only have the old 16 inch.

hrm my old car i used to have 17" alloys but once i run over the top of a stone or a brick and burst the alloy so i was forced to use an old 14" wheel from my old set until i got a new alloy.

but for a spare just buy a 17 steel wheel and tyre thats a fitment for a celica

Absolutely nothing!

The 16" wheel will be fine as a spare, the car isn't 4WD so it won't cause any damage.

Doesn't it depend on whether the rolling radius of the new tyres were calculated to be close to the original size (which they should be, otherwise the speedo & ODO will be out).

Assuming they are the same size (within 2%) then that should be fine, but I'd still treat it like a space saver and take it very easy on it, i.e. avoid exceeding 80Km/h and get the regular wheel re-fitted ASAP.

If the radii do vary by more than 2% I'd be wary of using it as a spare, especially on the front.

I got rid of my 17" spare when I bought new rims for my Gen 7. All I've got now is a tyre repair can & a spare tyre in the boot. The tyre repair can will fill (sprayed in the tyre valve) 90% of holes, alloying you to egt to a garage to get the tyre repaired or replaced. The tyre repair mixture I've heard, can last up to 3 years and you can travel at 50mph with the tyre repaired by it.
