Hi,

Just wondering whether I can purchase the wheel spats (wheel arch garnishes) that are found on the T180.

Do they cpme as plastic or coloured i.e. come in shade of car such as mine, Astral black !

We've had this not long ago and the price is astronomic. The frustrating thing is that the US market offers them ready coloured at a decent price. Do a search - I think you should find it.

Hi, I tried a search but dont know what these are called. Couldnt find anything under "Spats". :unsure:

Try asking over on www.rav4world.com our US cousins.....over the pond....

They may be able to point you in the right direction...

These are the flares but I can't find the post either;

These are about £275 fitted and come factory painted but that is the USA! For the UK you need Kingo to advise you when he is back at work.

Ive asked this question with my main agent and kingo, as a rule they are available, but only for the t180, as they dont fit to other models for some reason.

Looks as if Toyota have it sussed, if yah want the wheel arch extensions, get a t180, but then put up with the awful costs of having runflats fitted, thats what scared me off the t180.

TBH I cant see how the spats wouldnt fit the other rav4's???

The wheel arches are the same. The only difference may be in the fixing of the spats/wheelarch flares. IF the T180 has provision for clips/fixing then I could understandd.

BUT "Dyer Toyota" state that these (see link) "Are A Custom Fit And Are Contoured To The New Body Lines" and "Will Dress Up Your Base Model RAV4".

Here is a link for what I think are the flares ...

From Partznet (I think!)

Had a quick look on eBay and found unpainted ones: -

Or Toyota Rav4 Fender Flares,Mudguards,flint mica molding

MMMMmmmmmmmm

They even do the side mouldings in the colour to match the car RATHER THAN just plastic!

Been reading this thread but beware, I think the spats locate into holes in the door/panel, rather than simply stuck on to the bodywork. I've seen a "bare" door from a 4.2 VX in a breaker's yard in "Norn Iron" and that certainly had holes in the door panel to take the spats. No doubt you could take the lugs off any spat and then stick 'em on, but you'd have to ask yourself why Toyota went to all the bother of manufacturing a different door with holes to take the spats if they didn't have to!!

Yes that is correct they do;

However, I'm not sure if the ones that are available from the USA require drilling or if they are just stuck on.

Would think the US ones are stick on.

Just watch on buying the US stuff - its cheap but the shipping can cost twice as much, then the UK HMRC hit you with the same amount again for the privilege of accepting the item, which nobody in the UK can afford to produce.

Cheaper to fly to the US and claim to the customs that they are part of yer medicine kit.

Yes I'd avoid buying the cheap US ones myself, we saw that recently with front fog lights that turned out to be non "e" marked but I am talking about the genuine factory finished ones from Toyota USA pictured above. These modern adhesives are very good and maybe they rely on the adhesive only?

I can certainly ask the question when I go back in June.

Actually that very nice Kingo has a contact as he can get a very reasonably priced photochromic rear mirror. Maybe he could try for anyone interested?

Being that the US model 4.3 is longer would they fit anyway ? Might be different size/shape.

I think the extra length is in the rear bumper (after the wheel arches) but you could be right. There are often subtle differences.

I will ask my Florida contact to take a look

The problem with the T180 ones, is that the doors and wings are pre drilled and the whole jobby is clipped and riveted in place. You could buy all the gear to do it, but you have the problem of A: The horrendous expense, and B: you would have to be very accurate cutting/drilling the holes

A stick on version would be ideal, as Toyota did do them for previous model RAV's like this

I will report back on prices from the USA

Kingo :thumbsup:
