Hello any Yaris TS people. I have just purchased a 2003 Yaris for what I think is a bargain. I have taken a risk as there was no service history. I have always trusted japanese cars... There is a slight noise from front of car on a right hand turn... as if something loose.... also gearbox a little stiff changing gear. any comments appreciated. Also, does anyone know of a Toyota specialist in the Poole/Bournemouth area as I would like to get the car checked over but not by a dealer (save the pennies) ???? car came with year's MOT.

Any comments about the Yaris would be appreciated....

regards,

Ali

could be a wheel bearing or loose arch liner

yaris gearboxes are a bit stiff anyway in some gears but if it gets really bad then something is wrong

how much did you pay for the car?

Yaris' have problems with CV joints so that may possibly be your noise, also for the gear change issue you may get away with just putting fresh gearbox oil in to solve the problem, if not, you'll be looking at new synchros.

Thanks Matty and Forde for your replies.... funnily enough the noise is very similar to when I had the cv joints go on a honda a while back. I paid £3000 for the Yaris.... reckon good price... ??

Gears stiff but not concerning me now that it seems to be common in the Yaris. Am gonna get car checked over next few days. Any tips on good tyre places as found a bulge in one of the rears?

Also have you guys done any modifications at all?

Cheers, Ali :)

For instance first and first to second are not exactly super smooth. I don't know British prices, but £3k seems like a good deal to me.

Many of us guys are modded, but only lightly. The ones that aren't can be seen here.

Cheers, mate.

T'is a while out of date, think you find most Yaris owners are on www.toyotaownersclub.com as this site seems to have quietened down alot over the past year.

Hiya again...

got tyres done today and discovered it was the cv joint causing the knocking noise, getting that done tomorrow. Anyone know where I can get a workshop manual, eBay only got standard Yaris manual... ??
