Broken Wheel Studs, Stuck In The Wheel Hubs! Help

Upon removing my alloys to paint my calipers i came across a bit of a problem i had not addressed! i found i had 2 broken wheel studs on the front drivers side wheel.

....as the wheel did feel lose it affected the cars handling a bit and a strange tssssing sound came from the wheel and i knew either the nuts were not tight or something was wrong. Took it to a garage and had them check it and i found out it was the studs that were broken.

I removed the wheel to have a look and the studs are broken just inline with the wheel hub...i have no clue on how to remove the old broken studs...and where to buy new ones from. The old ones are looking a bit rusty but i havent a clue as to how they could break.

Need help as to whether i need to pop to toyota parts department and buy the studs from them i need only two. I have checked eBay and they are all extended studs which i dont need.

I just need the original size that came with the car but am not sure as to whether they vary for different cars etc.

Also a rough price of how much this is going to set me back, I have a slight clue after seeing a tutorial online on how to fit new ones in but i am going to leave this to someone trained as i havent a clue of how i am going to bank the old broken ones out and how i am going to fit the new ones in.

Anyone got a clue of how much labour toyota are going to charge or just in general how much it costs to replace and fit the studs. Its only two on 1 wheel.

Thanks

1st remove the wheel from the hub, then slowly turn the hub whilst looking at it from the back... you are looking to see if you can find the rear of the stud and to check if there would be enough room for it to come out without removing the complete hub assembly.

If there is room all you need to do is line it up with the gap, then use a hammer and a punch and knock the stud through from the front, to put the replacement in all you do is feed it through from the back... then wind on a nut to pull the stud in tight, they are held in place by a spline... an easy and not an expensive fix.

The stud will be similar to this..

.. and can be bought from your local dealer.

I wouldnt worry too much mate.

I also was in the same situation a couple of months ago. I was tightening my wheel bolts and snapped a bolt whilst in the alloy.

Just as cfc1 mentioned above, its not very expensive to fix. Luckily my mate is a mechanic and knew what to do. I on the other hand panicked as I didnt know the bolts can be replaced so easily - and thinking I will have to replace the whole thing.

I hope you get this sorted soon.
