 i plan my trips around the UK with the help of the Shell website,

so i understand how your feeling

Incase i forget to check and cant find a Shell garage,

i keep a bottle of Aldon automotive octane boost in my car.

It works fine and is around £10 a bottle.

millers CVL turbo for ultimate bang for buck , think it eats CATs tho :S

millers octane plus is for everyday use and gains 2 points on 50litres of fuel

can be bought in 10packs on the millers oils site for 42 quid iirc

im thinking on running it constantly on mine at the min with sainsburys super

nothing to do with how unreliable your car is? you dont have to use vpower - any high octane fuel will do. cant see the hassle myself with going to the Shell to fill up - not like there rare.

i guess you could use the tesco 99,

as long as its 98 or over it will be fine

BPs is not any good as its only a 97ron.

i was reading about a fella in ireland who rebuilds rotary engines. apparently you cant get the good juice over there and rotary motors are mapped to run on 98+. he always advises customers to have the car remapped to run on cheaper stuff as octane boosts are not all that - he said alot dont listen and wonder why the engine went pop again. i only use Shell and would avoid that tesco 99 stuff - me car didnt like it at all - even the misses asked why the car was slow. dont understand the point of this topic really as Shell are everywhere!!

ive used tesco and it works exactly the same as Shell vpower but Shell is 8 miles away and tesco even further....tried gulf super and that spazzed the car out (not sure for certain if it was the fuel but was bout 10 miles after filling up) it slowed right down, flashed a light at me then ran steady till i filled up with Shell and reset the ecu.....odd

cant comment on the compressor - but v power has a marked difference over that crap tesco stuff in the t sport. i thought it was just me but even the misses noticed.

Hmmmm.. strange. I've always used tesco 99, then the other day i stuck £10 of vpower in when i was running low.

The engine started to splutter and lose power, It was o.k. again once i filled it with tesco again.

it probably started spluttering cos it aint used to the good stuff!! v power is the most advanced petrol going. a friend of mine works at thornton research - next to stanlow. this is where optimax and v power was developed. i think they spent a lil bit more on development than tesco does. that place employs the top people in the industry.
