my next toyota will be either the new celica as mentioned above or the CTS compressor, the auris sr180 could be tempting, or maybe just maybe a well looked after supra.

you lot are being too picky toyota have a great range of cars and always will even if at this moment in time they dont, be patient.

I thought i was on the wrong forum before as people seem to have animosity toward the brand, couldn't work out why they are even on here if that was the case... Anyway, I myself will always be a Toyota fan.

I did a test day on the Ascari circuit, under controlled driving/conditions, so that we could compare Auris' competitiors

The Pug, to be fair to it, wasnt a bad drive, but it was noisy and had very poor brakes compared to the Auris

As for the Civic, well I can honestly say it was a pile on pants in comparison to the Auris models, and as for that space age (1990's) digital dash, I just dont know what they were thinking of. Well actually I do, they are deliberatly moving their profile of Civic owners from 50's something to 30's something.

Just my own personal observations from actually comparing Auris competitors side by side

You should've listened to me when i told you that you were in the wrong forum!!

I can see what people are saying and there are good arguements for both sides.

However at the end of the day it's all about personal choice, if people don't like something they won't buy it and go elsewhere.

Personally i love Toyota's, yes it's a shame that at the moment there are no performance cars on sale but that isn't enough to deter me.

Just look at Toyota's strategy, more diesels, big sales on the Aygo, about to release another smaller car the IQ, Prius still going strong.

Is it just me or does that look like they are gearing up for the release of a big sports car when those vehicles drop their average CO2 rating down?

Just a thought, but don't give up on Toyota just yet........

I really like the looks of the Auris – I’m a fan!

As for Honda, I’ve been there and the cars of old, like the Integra, were a hoot to drive. I test drove the new Civic Type R when I was looking to part with the S2000 and was really disappointed. Within 2 minutes I knew I’d never buy it as it was really bland to drive and not worth that kind of money imo.

I’ll be sticking with Toyota for a while too, but might in a while consider what borodaz mentioned with a good example of a Supra. B)

Absolutely... I just think that Toyota is doing a lot right and not much wrong. Again i guess is a personal opinion but i just couldn't believe the slating!

When i no longer need to do 20k miles a year, i will be looking to the next Toyota sport range, whatever it's going to be.

LONG LIVE THE LIFT

The Auris is the quietest diesel i have ever heard... This includes my colleague's passat (54 plate) 1.9 TDI which i thought was excellent.

Honda's sport range are excellent...last gen anyway. There was a time when i use to dream of NSX's and S2000's... I still wouldn't say no to them now.

But the new CTR is a let down... Mr Honda has lost his way with that one.

honda's got them well licked these days.if you want an auris save some money and get a pug 307 and change the badges.

You must be taking mind bending substances :D:

Go and buy a Pug, then you will really now what trouble is..........and if you think Honda have got it licked, you are not in the real world I'm afraid

Kingo

not on anything today?!

pugs are *****e - me mother had one. if you read my post correctly you wouldnt write such twoddle - that goes for you too cabcirtains. the auris looks the spit of the pug - blatant copy! ugly, bland and no hot hatch. honda do have toyota licked...... type R, S2000 or would you rather have a t180..... i think not. shame really.

You are correct the current range is devoid of genuinely exciting cars, and going forward its unlikely a petrol T-Sport equivelent will be made which is a shame. Also if Japan/USA move onto the Diesel, this will make petrol cars almost extinct. As mentioned in the earlier posts with CO2 being the main driver at present (in europe) a volume manafacturer will always follow the trends thus not producing any high CO2 products that sell in large numbers. I wonder how long it will be before we get taxed out of T-Sports.

It's already unrealistic to own anything that produces more than 255g/km and there are plenty out there that does. I just feel sorry for the people who feels that they geniunely need to have big off roaders. Don't feel sorry for posers in their R8's though. :)

Well its £210 for the CTS this year. Isn't it going up to £260 in 2009?

Getting more and more expensive as each year passes. Think I get a diesel next too :(

You see that anything below 100 or 99g/km isZERO tax? Wow.

I will be running mine till it dies, i bought it for the wife to use day to day and for me to have a blast in occasionally. I wont sell due to the depreciation, the government have made it clear they dont want large petrol cars on the road (Corolla large??).

No normal Diesel Car will sound as good as this does with the typhoon and TTE backbox when on lift through a tunnel, even if there is a member of greenpeace chained to it!

LONG LIVE THE LIFT

I like my t sport, i like the fact that its a good looking car that doesn't attract the wrong kind of attention that can also move when i need it to, that why i decided to buy one, but what im not to sure about with toyota is the way they have gone about designing things on the car, clutch anyone!!!

For example the secondary air injection pump, myself and my dad went about stripping the old one a few w.ends back when i had nothing better to do. It was said by someone on this forum before, cant remember who exactly, sorry, that he was told by toyota the pump corrodes on the inside due to the damp air coming in from the atmosphere, its rite in front of the passenger wheel.

I dont think this is the case,i think its bull to be honest, not by the person but by Toyota, because there was absolutely no corrosion to the pumps motor,it was perfect, brushes perfect, but the pump fan wouldnt turn, like it was jammed. We put power on,the bat wire started to get very hot so we knew it was taking alot of current.

We had the fan housing dismantled as well, and here the thing, its made out of plastic, and there is a very small gap between the fan and the housing, talking tiny here. The plastic housing has warped, prob when the fan starts up and gets hot. Because its warped the fan cant turn. The motor is fine, its just a plan bad design with regard to the plastic housing, it should have been made from metal, something with a bit of shape memory. I think that why these pumps are being replaced to be honest.

Its about £500 for this pump before labour, if you see this thing you start to realize why toyota are the richest car maker in the world, probably making it for bout £50 if that, it really is nothing special, just a pump with a relay to switch it on and off.

It can be fixed, skim a small amount of the plastic fan and then i have a spare, cause the new one will prob do the same thing, but you shouldn't need to do something like that.

Mate bought a Passat same time as i got my car, his cars a lot nicer inside than mine, feels better put together, solid,i said that to him when he bought it. I remember him saying that although his car was nicer inside than mine i was getting a better engineered car as it was Toyota and Japaneses, i don't know is that the case to be honest.

I wont sell the car now, to much spent on it and its been fairly ok for the last few months and starting to like it again, prob just a run of bad luck

That just my two cents, and everyone is entitled to there own opinion. What i think is it would be a very boring forum if everyone thought the same thing

I suppose we need to make a new Fagott Section for all diesel drivers.

As for diesel not as good as petrol, Audi won the Le Mans with a diesel...

Move on my man, things are turning the way that you personally cannot understand or like and you feel the need to ***** on people by calling them names just to show what a narrow minded fool you are.

I swapped to a diesel because of practical reasons and happen to like the T180 very much, but that doesn't make me a diesel head.

Just open up your mind.

Thanks but Iv a new pump installed now and the light is staying off, removed the arch lining to get to it. If anyone else is going tring the same thing with their one, removing it i mean you can get instruction on toyota tech doc's for the different pins on the relay and which is positive and neg on the pump + fault finding procedure, just if you are going fault finding with you multi meter on a lovely Sunday morn after a night on the beer!!! Pump mite not be working cause duff relay sort of thing, there is a valve i think on the drivers side of the engine thats part of the system, before it goes back to the exhaust manifold and also a rubber pipe that runs on top of the rad, i could go out and look but to comfortable in front of my laptop!!! :P

Anyways off topic somewhat , apologies

you've got your own section antway. this is for tsports and not diesels! i dont need to open my mind, if i wanted economy i would buy an aygo. open my mind - diedel fumes are pure cancer and one of the biggest pollutants we have. diesel is a step back - not the future. as for a diesel winning lemans - and - your point. ? pure advertising ploy by audi and it only won cos it had to stop less. if diesel was the future why are toyota making hybrids using petrol engines? if diesel is so good why are hualiers turning away from it? so as for being narrow minded - not quite lad. you being down in london willl have first hand experience of how dirty diesel is. what do you expect ranting on about a diesel car to petrolheads?

The topic started as a happy T Sport owner having to give up the T Sport for an Auris before it turned into a diesel slating fest.

You try driving an aygo on the motorway daily simply because it's economical. If you make this choice then i'd question your sanity.

Hauliers are giving up diesel because diesel costs too much not because of anything else.

The auris happens to be the cleanest diesel there is and there is less particulate and NOX emission than your petrol engine. If all diesels were running the D-CAT system you will never see another diesel car chucking out black smoke.

Audi winning with diesel is a testament to what a diesel can do...It isn't meaningless ad campaign as they could as easily lose the race with a non-reliable diesel engine.

You have shown again what a narrow minded fool again, keep it up.

And despite not being a dieselhead before this thread started, i think you have just made me into one.

For me, it's not a case of wanting a diesel. I hate the things. It's just that with the way VED etc. is going, the only realistic way to have a car with decent performance that doesn't cost the earth to run (VED, fuel, depreciation - petrols will deprectiate a lot more than diesels) will be to have a diesel.

I don't like it, but I don't have much choice. :(

Lol, first of all you claim to be a petrolhead when you don't even know what it means. I could own a fleet of diesel cars and still call myself a petrolhead, it has nothing to do with what the car runs on.

Secondly, you speak as if the Auris is slow and diesels in general are slow. You drive a 1.8 190bhp car which some people don't even consider a performance car. There are plenty of diesels out there that out perform this car in every single way.

You're views are narrow minded and clearly have no basis.

you always have a choice! i remember when diesel was alot cheaper than petrol - what happened.... people bought diesel cars so the cost of diesel went up. so you think if everyone converts to diesel road tax wont go up? you should look at why things happen - not just be forced into something cos the goverment will put tax up on diesel once a majority of private cars are diesel. narrow minded - not quite.

You contradict yourself constantly... And now you deny the very motion that drives a capitalism economy... If there is a higher demand of something, it will cost more. If you don't like that or understand that then there is always North Korea for you. Its quite simple really, you live in this economy mate, so what is your point? The fact is that you are still going to fuel less on a diesel which ever way you look at it, and i bet you even when petrol cars are extinct that the tax will still be cheaper than a petrol gussler.

You really ought to think twice before you show yourself up again, with the name calling, the refusing to accept facts and ignoring counter points or anything that's constructive you just make yourself look totally idiotic.
