Hi, As other will tell you the Avensis clutch is heavy as standard. I recently bought a 54 T4 D4D and its exactly as you describe. I'd love an answer to curing the squeak myself!

Just to update you had a play this aft under steering colum and cured squeak.

I took small panel off and the watched clutch pedal as i pressed in and out.

The pedal has a split pin with a pin thro the pedal then a small metal thing looks like a small solid cylinder thing i noticed the arms on this is what the pin goes thro and were slightly splayed so creating play when you pressed pedal,it wasnt pressing the master cylinder rod straight .

I closed the arms up with a pair of pliers and then popped the pin and split pin back in and hay presto the squeak had gone well the one fron inside the car,i wd40 also just to add and put it back together.

I still had the sqeak coming from the gearbox end tho and heavy clutch pedal,so i removed air filter assembly but could not find where the clutch mechanism was near the gearbox my intention was to wd40 that also as it does sound dry sqeak after searching i still could not see any movement where the clutch cable is if there is one ???

There is a known fault with the clutch master cylinders installed in cars manufactured before March 2005, cars manufactured after this date had a revised cylinder installed. Although my Avensis was registered in May '05 the actual date of manufacture was February and I had to have a new cylinder installed under warrenty.

Thanks for that can you tell me is this resposible fr the heavy clutch pedal then(master cylinder).

Its so annoying is the heavy clutch peadl change it ruins the drive.

Is there a modification that can be made to a 2004 to lighten the pedal??
