hi! can anyone shine any light on my d4d starting problem,i have ruled out dodgy fuel,as i have refilled since and still struggles to start, even more so if it is warm, which i find strange,if it has been running for 1 hour say and driven say 50 miles ,this is when if turned off and tried to start it immediately, you could nearly flatten the Battery before it will fire up.

Please any ideas? thanks johno7700

sounds just like my old rav!! exactly the same symptoms - it had new starter motors (3 in total), new Battery, went in to the dealers numerous times, yet i kept being told "sorry, there is nothing wrong" what topped it all off was when going to Le Mans in June last year the !Removed! thing used all it's oil driving from Bicester towards Dover (warning light came on near Maidstone) - off course Beadles of Maidstone claimed there was nothing wrong with it - even the RAC fella that towed us there said there was something wrong - even though there was evidence of a "slight" oil leak but they claimed that it wouldn't have lost all the engine oil through the "slight" leak!

God really f***ed off with it - so traded it in for a Sportage! Hopefully you not got my old car!?

Hi johno..... Had the same problem with my 02 4d4 gx it would start perfectly when cold but when the engine was at running temp it would not start and sounded as though the Battery was going flat.

I traced it to the starter motor and after I replaced it seemed ok but occasionally when hot it wont start. to get over it I lift the bonnet and prime the fuel pump with the push button on top of the fuel filter and it will start....maybe you could try the same and see if yours will start.....this obviously points to a lack of fuel....as for the reason I haven't got that far yet....

Hope it works

Mick ;)
