T180 Broken Into..

Cant believe it. my T180 was broken into last night, right outside my window (staying in hotel)

right under a camera too - but its too dark to see anything.. great..

the little hoody wearing sh*te smashed the back privacy tinted window, smashed the rear parcel shelf (its wooden extender bit is completely broken in half) to get into the boot.

All happened so quick, by the time i'd jumped off my seat with the alarm and looked out the window, hoody punk was already running off..

What bothers me is not the contents stolen (1 works laptop which is broken - completely, it wont even turn on which is why i dont carry it on me! lol.. hope he enjoyed running for nothing with that heavy brick) but the fact it was a complete random try is whats annoying, it was night time, privacy glass, rear parcel shelf on, theres no way he would have known anything was there .. complete chancer.. in a way im glad he found the laptop rather than ransacking for something else (rear tv screens or something)

So thats seriously annoying. plus the 75 excess for new rear window.. havent priced up a new parcel shelf but knowing toyota not cheap..

- didnt sleep much last night with worry over the car (its sat in car park with just plastic for protection now) .. and the windscreen company cant get a replacement till possibly sunday as they need to order one from toyota dealership .. ffs.. so now have a few more days of worry if someone will come back for more .. its an easy target now for sure.

may sleep in it tonight with a bat.

not what you want to happen working away from home either.. drive home down motorway tomorrow will be nice im sure!

:(

bit of a BGR

Happened to me way back in '94 with the new RAV - took weeks to get glass as the model was so new to Uk the glass came from Japan.

3 weeks ago had front windscreen cracked so guy came out with wrong screen - wot is it with RAVs that the glass is so difficult to source?

Shame about the damage but shows just how quick these guys can get in and out.

Must say I don't bother locking the landrover altho theres a few quids worth of off road gear in it. If somebody wants it, they can get in easy ...

Just as well it found the laptop otherwise could have had a go at the radio etc....

Fry em I say  Scroat. A couple of hours at my Karate club will do the trick, he wouldnt do it again if he was used as a punch bag for two hours

Rant over

He's probably not bright enough to realise that the laptop was duff. The worrying thing is that he will see it as a success and some other poor so and so will get done over tonight.

We tend to mollycoddle this growing sector of society instead of getting a grip. Too many do gooders Im afraid. We have just been instructed that any under 17 year olds without a ticket must not be ejected from our trains. This means that all those honest people that buy a ticket whether they can afford it or not now have to put up with the festering little low lifes gloating in front of them - and gloat they do.

This country is beyond repair.

Read this thread with interest... in January, I had my last car stolen from outside the house at night. Trouble was, he/sh/it broke into the house first to nick the keys! Nothing else was taken

Came down in the morning one Monday, raring to go and looking forward to another week at work, then wondered where on earth the dog had gone. Found him up the garden!! (He's a Golden Retriever pup, and he probably thought they'd play with him, and he wouldn't bark as they are a completely cr*p guard dog - but who cares)

Ran upstairs, berated the better half for leaving the dog up the garden, ran downstairs, ran around :angry2: . Better half then arose from her seriously disturbed slumber (v early in the morning for her) she looked out of window and announced my car was gone. I thought she had totally lost it - my keys were still on hall table. Turns out they'd nicked the spare set from the kitchen. Endless fuss and bother, new locks for house, new locks for better half's Rav (plus an apology for accusing her of neglecting the dog)

Looking back, I draw a few morals/pointers from this (unpleasant) experience

1 Use the burglar alarm when you're in the house alseep

2 Don't leave house and better half's car keys in your car

3 Electrify the fences :giljotiini:

4 If you do encounter someone in the house, looking for your car keys, chuck them down the stairs to them

on the plus side, having eyed my wife's Rav4 enviously, at least it let me change my car to a Rav4

haha

some years ago I was up early to do the work run to Edinburgh in the company Granada (J regy) which was fitted with a towbar for my caravan.

Outside, I wondered where I'd left the car as I couldn't see it in the driveway (I had a small hotel as well so we had a bit of parking space around.)

I then found the barrel lock from the drivers door lying on the driveway!! :o

The polis said it had been stolen to then steal a new caravan up the road. The car was traced to a garage in Lanark but was shifted before the polis on watch could arrest anyone and eventually found parked on the road to the Irish ferries. Polis said they had made such a mess of the drivers door and steering column that it wasn't worth selling on!!

Had a brand new Rover 620 Coupe which another mobster/young ****** decided to steal. However it was automatic, and in the attempt to drive out of the driveway, he reversed at speed into the corner of the house wall. House scratched. car written off. Chap caught.

Not just RAVs. Including the wife's cars (none the very most common, but not that unusual) I have had three windscreens over as many years and they have all had to await the arrival via the main dealer. For the last one (Volvo) after three days I was told by the RAC windscreen outfit that there was not one in the country (this was in London, by the way), half an hour later, I had located three from dealers and the RAC lot were shamed into turning out that afternoon to fit it. I could only presume that what they really meant was that none were available from a source that offered them as generous a discount as they could get from their usual source.

Fascinating fitting technique, by the way, attempted to extract the glued in screen through levering and sliding a fearsome tool around it edges to remove the paint along with the glue.

that's why i don't have (want) privacy tinted windows... i never ever let anything in the car anyway and if they can see inside that there isn't anything in the car they pass by to go the the next one...

with that so called cool privacy tinted windows they take the change to brake it so see if there is any thing in the vehicle.
