any t sport or compressor owners help here, last couple of days i haven't felt the kick of lift in my car, it's rnning fine revs all the way up still an have tried ecu reset, always run it on v power fuel, i know you can't feel the kick as much in compressor comparred to t sport due to supercharger givin better low down pull, but i did use to really notice it go in to lift but now there's no kick at all!!!!!!! help please i miss the kick in to lift

another mike! i'm only in chester. i've just got a t sport but from what i read about compressors is the lift was lowerd to 5800 i think obviosly cos the supercharger supplies more air so it can be engaged earlier. tte smoothed out the lift engagement on the compressor ecu - gutting really but the superchargers extra power i'm sure makes up for that. but if you where feeling lift before i would reset the ecu and see what happens - if its the same check the lift bolts. i presume you are getting no engine warning light?

The lift bolts shouldn't need replacing (I thought it was only pre-facelifts that had this problem)

Nowt to do with the charger supplying more air; all down to engine mapping. No reason you cant have it kick in at 4K RPM if you map the fuelling correctly.

Anyway, have a fertle about and check the earth lead around the charger; Can recall one CTSC owner who said he didnt have the lift kick in, as the earth lead for the electronic clutch wasnt connected and as such would not alow it to engage.

if the supercharger wasnt engaging it would be very noticeable surely? usually if you have a bad earth connection you will get a slow drain on the Battery from my experience. i know the lift bolt issue was only supposed to be with pre facelift but the part number didnt change so the lift bolts are the same. remember a long time ago on here a guy had a similair problem you were experiencing on a t sport and the lift bolt had give up. is your car reaching full operating temperature? lift bolts are an easy job - and cheap.

commone problems are for not feeling lift is

that the car is not fully warmed up

modification ie induction kit would give a smoother delivery of power?

lift bolts?

and the car being in "safe mode"!

The charger has an electronic clutch; if the earth for that isnt connected, when it's supposed to kick in, it wont be able to complete the circuit and not kick in.

The earth on the car is a different ball game ;)

I wouldent expect if to be a lift bolt issue; from memory this was occuring on cars around 2003/2004, but was resolved with a different tensile bolt in later engines?

the supercharger only disengages at idle? if it wasnt kicking in you would know. easy to check your theory - remove earth and clean contact surfaces. from what i know any dodgy earth will cause a drain B) incomplete circuit - power not being returned - drain!

thats what i've heard most you compressor owners say - and tte did smooth it out. but the guy says he was feeling it and now he aint? thats what's putting me off getting a compressor and tbh some of the problems compressor owners have had. i could have got a new compressor when i got mine but didnt really want to borrow the extra money - everytime i went back to vantage they kept trying to sell it to me - it dropped £4k in 3 months and never left the forecourt!i know if i drove one i would want one so i wont go and test one!

:)

Electrickery doesn't work like that. It requires a circuit to flow - a break in either the negative (earth) or positive part of that circuit results in no current.

oh yes it does - just had major mission finding a drain. didnt know myself so i got some expert advice - and they were right. no more Battery drain for me.

yeah mate i normally can feel lift come on in mine, it's not a really big kick like in normal t sport, but i can feel it kick an the engine note change, it's sooo adictive!!!! ha ha!! have you ever tried resetting your ecu, another compressor owner told me if they've ever ran on standard unleaded then it will not got back up to full power when you put like v power in unless you reset the ecu, i did it an the car just seemed to pick up better the whole rev range

  • 2 weeks later...

you hav'n't put standard fuel in by mistake,( or the garage filling tank with 95ron) cos you do notice the amount of kick with different octane fuels quite poor with 95 octane better with 97 see how you go on next refuel. and try a different garage.

Take the shortcut through newbridge-on-wye, (think its just after welshpool)

That is one awesome road (and a nifty shortcut)

made it back from camarthen to wigan in 2hrs 20 mins one night. (there were some real hairy moments!!)

Can anyone give me any ideas as to what could be wrong with my "lift" - it still works perfectly well in third but its now seeming really weak in 2nd. It used to be the other way round! I'm using super unleaded and everything else works fine and the engine sounds like its running perfectly healthily. I've got a facelift model so I shouldn't have the lift bolt issue!

Please help :-(
