Service

hi i was just wondering what different parts are relaced/gave attention on certain toyota services. I ask this as i have Bought my own air and oil filter, spark plugs and oil myself from toyota, and am having my local backsteet garage do my service for me after being quoted £240 for a 40k service of toyota. I was wondering if anything else needed to be changed as i have heard somebody mention that the chain drive has to be tightened on 100k miles. I wanted when such things like break fluid, power steering fluid, engine coolant all need changeing etc.... if any body could break the services down i.e.

40k...

50k..

60k...

70k...

etc that would be great,

thanks!

Not sure what they do on each service, except the obvious of oil and filters, all I know is 40k is a major service and that's why it's more expensive.

Brake fluid should be changed every 2 years, so that would be 20k and 40k service.

the chain doesn't need tightening at 100k, it will more than likely be checked at 100k and then ajusted if necessary.

when I had my yaris, along with the yaris handbook was a few other booklets, check in there it usually tells you what needs changing/checking after so many years and from that you can figure out which service it will be changed on.

Thanks for your feedback!!! Im currently waiting to pick up my car as its haveing its service. Im having all the filters change(genuine toyota parts) and have bought some Castrol magnetec oil. Im also haveing the brake fluid changed, and the gearbox oil as that is due at 40k miles!!! i was going to buy some of that Castrol edge sport oil but nearly fell over when i saw the price, it was almost twice the price of magnetec.... What oil do you all use in your t pots??

Thanks

I have mine seviced at toyota so it's whatever oil they use.

I could do with using magnatec, as I drive a few short miles to work every day, but i've heard a few people who have used it said it's a very thin oil and it can make the engine sound clunky, don't know what cars it was used on.
