Getting A Power Connection Behind The Dash

Hey guys!

I have a 2001 Avensis, and have a Harman Kardon Drive+Play to connect my iPod. It's plugged into the back of the stereo through the CD changer socket, and it get's it's power from the cigarette lighter.

It all works well, but I'd like to do away with the cigarettte lighter connection. In the box you also get a 12volt connection harness, that has three wires going into it which are Yellow, Red and Black.

These are labled +12V DC, ACC, and GND.

Can I splice this wiring into the stereo cabling and if so which wires do I go into?

Or do I need to go into the ignition wiring? Could I use the wiring into the back of the cigarette lighter?

Cheers.

That's what I'd used. It has a good current capability and is fused. Tends to be on only when ignition is on though, which is good in a way, but no good if you want it to work when the ignition is off.

Excellent, thanks for the quick reply!

Only on when the ignition is on is fine, as the stereo works the same way anyway.
