Thats my gen 7, 5 years old. Hoping all goes well. Any vvti experts know of anything it might slip up on? (if anything)

Nothing feels amiss and it still drives like new.

I think the two most likely things are corrosion on the inside faces of the front Brake Discs and emissions. The first is easy to check and the second, personally I add Redex to a full tank from time to time.

HTH.

Emissions are always something to think about when getting a car MOT'd. Best thing to do is to put some good petrol in or fuel cleaner, then on the day of the MOT, make sure the engine is nice and warm/hot when you drop it off at the test centre. That's because you car runs cleaner when warm.

Other than that everything else should be ok. Mine's 5 years old and hitting 80k and has never failed an MOT. Just give her a check over the day before. Check bulbs, brakes look ok, wipers work, no bad chips/cracks on the windscreen, tyre depth, shocks (push down on each corner, any more than 2 up&down bounces means new shocks) and check the steering seems ok.

That's all I look over before I drop mine off.

Or just a tank full of top notch fuel and give it a good run before the test.

If your car spends a lot of its time in urban areas, or doing short runs, it's much more likely to be clogged up with stuff that will lead to a fail. A decent run with an additive or a good fuel will help to clean out its system.

You'll laugh at this though. Was just about to set off this morning, i thought i'd double check all the lights. OOOhh Noooo, a number plate light out.

I had a spare bulb (the little 5w push in ones) so i strip the boot cowling off, twist the holder, and did it not fall inside the boot skin. No chance of reaching it with my fingers. Its a toyota part, the ones in the car shop didn't fit. What to do, the toyota garage is 25 miles away.

A superb piece of technical know how followed. 2 wires soldered onto the bulb and taped the bulb into position. :D :D

Now i've got plenty time to get a bulb holder at least
