Hi-octane Petrol

Wondered about getting the 'better' petrol for the car and thought I would give the Shell V-Max petrol a go this week (collecting the Ferrari toy cars as a bonus (big kid  ))

Filled up from near empty on Tueaday, then filled up again from aboiut 3/4 empty Thursday, I managed to get over 40mpg shown on the fuel computer which seems not to bad (since Monday, done two sets of 300+ mile journeys)

Bit early to be sure, but could be just worth the extra 8% or so cost of the 'better' petrol for economy - anyone else using the higher octane fuel and any thoughts on pros to using it (apart from maybe better mpg?)

Congratulations - yep- I've been using the higher octane and its much better - for performance and fur yer engine.

I've never bocht anything else fur ma RAV turbo and won't consider cheap rubbage. An the wee cars come in handy fur presents....I still have all ma dinky toys etc frae 40 years ago.

Tried cheapo diesel fur the landie and the resujlt is that i need to change the pump timing if i don't want to smoke Scotland oot o smoked salmon. petrol - the jap engines are good and deserve good petrol. If ya wanna buy cheap petrol, buy a motor that takes low octane muck....mind and get yer V-power card tae collect yer airmiles or whatever

In the local land of whisky and football, Shell garages are a-plenty. Few BP garages aroon, and what is SO? They sold up and escaped years ago......

I've been collecting airmiles for years and have enough to fly to Aussie by myself... B)
