Hi,

I have my Aygo Black for 3 months now. Recently I've noticed that when I change gears, especially from 2nd to 3rd and from 3rd to 4th gear, my rev counter goes up meaning the machine revs up by its own.

Have somebody else noticed this?

Thanks.

Bye!

MMT or Manual Box?

It's a manual.

take your foot off the accelerator when you change gear.

I'm not unexperienced driver. I'm driving for 8 years and I know how to change gears.

I've tried first to fully take off the foot of the gas pedal, weight a moment and then press the clutch, but it happens then also.

As I said its reving up by its self.

If its a cable accelerator, then there is a posibility that it is getting stuck or needs lubricating. Maybe the clutch cable catches the accelerator somewhere

There engine has a load sensor near the crankshaft. If that is faulty, it may be prompting the ECU to squirt more fuel in. Also the throttle position sensor may be playing up.

The short anwser will be to take it to the Toyota, who will plug their diagnostic tools in and run the tests to check the ECU's sensors.

OK.

Thanks.

Hi,

yesterday i talked with my Toyota dealer about the problem and he said that this is normal for all Toyota petrol engines. He said that the engines are configured to keep the revs up when changing gears, so after the gear change the car has enough power to pull forward if you need to (mening in some crucial circumstance). Seams logical, but is it true?

What do you think?

seems true, all aygo's which i have driven are doing the same :)

That sounds like a brush off although if I blip the throttle at the lights mine revs itself alittle extra again before dying down. I think its a sticking throttle cable or censor and am waiting until the 2nd service (due at 16,000 on mine) to get it sorted. I've never driven any Toyota though before that does that- I'd think it was faulty if it did to be honest.

I think the explanation is nonsense, but my previous Yaris and Corolla both had overrun on the throttle like the Aygo. I think it might be an emissions thing, so the fuel supply cuts off before the airflow, thus preventing a blob of partially-burned fuel heading out through the exhaust.

all the vvti

engines rev between gear changes this increases mpg and reduces emmisions it is also to enable better driveability

I borrowed a Corolla which did this and it annoyed me. Can't do the clutch much good slipping at every gear change.

I like to apply the throttle once the clutch has bitten on gear changes, hence my Cavalier with 240 k on the clock is still on the original factory fitted clutch!
