So. I have had my Rav4 for 36 glorious hours, came out of the theatre tonight and some lowlife has broken into it. I am so glad that, uncharacteristically, I read the manual and knew about double locking which I think stopped them from actually opening the doors and getting in. So just a broken window and a feeling that my fireworks have been well and truly peed on. :(

I decided to drive home rather than call Autoglass out - felt a bit vulnerable in the city centre, not to mention cold and wet. I have just got rid of a 10 year old Vitara so was on the motorway before I realised that I probably had heating that worked! Put the heating on full blast and kept warm despite not having a driver's window.

So I am very impressed by the security system and the heating as well the pleasure I got from driving it yesterday and today.

Even more depressed now having read Storm Southwest's post and its replies. Hope I can get the window repaired.

Phlipp, I'm really sorry to hear about your new Rav4 being vandalised like that - I am obviously becoming a grumpy old man because I am increasingly of the view that chopping their hands off would be a suitable deterrent. Alternatively, the remedy proposed a few years ago for soccer hooligans
