Has anyone fitted the scangauge in a tidy manner?

Looks as if it might velcro under the cigarette lighter shelf but the long cable would have to loop round the outside of the panel to plug into the socket under the steering wheel.

The owner of the Dutch CityBugClub had a group buy a couple of weeks ago, they ended up buying

15 ScanGauges. He put his flush ith the back of the little shelf above the radio, you can see pictures here:

Everything is in Dutch as it's a Dutch forum, but the pics should be self explanatory.

And if you DO need translation, just PM e and I'll do so for you...

Sorry, didn't realise you have to be a member...

Have a look at his blog then:

Meanwhile I'll ask if it's OK to link his pics here...

I would quite like to see how it is secured into place. I have a scangauge, but am too scared to cut up the dashboard before I figure out out to afix the gauge

Hi,

I'm the one Jan is talking about.

The SGII is 100% plug&play and very easy to install.

Here are some pics of the install.

I've just picked up my Blue today & haven't stopped smiling yet!

Thanks for posting the pics. I would like to add a trip computer & the Scanguage looks like it does the job well. Does the Aygo/107 show all the fuel consumption information?

And where is the OBD socket? (If it's in the pics, sorry I missed it. Im having a slow brain day - it's just taken me 45 minutes to find the bluetooth console....)

Like the citybug site too, nice one. B)

It will do the following in litres/gallons and miles/km:

-Mpg,

-litre/hr,

-live mpg (updated up to twice per second),

-current trip mpg,

-avg mpg for the day,

-average mpg for the tank of fuel so far

-journey time remaining (on the current tank of fuel)

-fuel remaining in tank

-miles until empty

Don’t worry about calibrating the speedo on the scan gauge, because if the odometer readings are the same, then it’s ok. The issue is that it lets you adjust by %, but the speedo is 3-4 mph over and not a percentage above the current speed.

The SGII will show live fuel economy and many other things.

Lovely, good to know, thanks. Im just wondering if there's a way of mounting the scanguage on the surface of the dash with a tidy way of running the cable from the OBD (on the sterring column?) to it. Im basically trying not to cut holes in my console, but then I expect I'd have to do that to get at the OBD socket anyway.

Anyone know if you can mount one without slicing into plastic? If not, I might just take the plunge anyway because I really miss having a trip computer. Boys & toys etc.

Thanks folks.

Try routing the wire out of the front speaker cover, or the bottom of the A pillar trim and sticking it down with velcro

Offcource it's possible to mount it somewhere without cutting the dash.

When you buy a SGII you get some velcro tape with it so you can stick it anywhere you want.

Personally I think the dashbord panel is made for the SGII.

After having a quick nose around the dash, routing the wire through the speaker cover looks like it might work, thanks. Think I'll go shopping on eBay this weekend. I'll post some pics of the results successful or otherwise.

Cheers all.

I think the Scangauge is made in the USA so is the MPG, a) US gallons / US miles

B) US gallons / UK miles

or c) UK gallons / UK miles

could get confusing

Posted

It can be switched between litres & gallons. The SG website FAQ states it can be set to use imperial gallons instead of US at the calibration stage. I saw the SG mentioned in the MPG topic - has anyone got one to confirm it'll give MPG in measurements Her Majesty *standing & saluting* would approve of?

My SG is apparently on the way from the states so I hope to be reporting back soon. My Blue's an MMT, so I'm interested on whether having a rev counter makes the auto changes any more predictable as lifting the throttle definitely smooths them out.

My scangauge does UK gallons

It was originally designed to hold an instument panel! Have a look at this french article when the Aygo was still a concept car

I have just fitted my Scangauge in the same position as this post shows, on the shelf above the radio.

I drilled a hole at the back of the shelf big enough for the small connector to pass through then fed a stiff pull wire through the hole so that it came out behind the dash in the area of the diagnostic socket.

I then attached the pull wire with insulating tape to the end of the comms cable and pulled it through from the foot well area.

The plug can then be inserted in the back of the Scangauge and the unit velcroed down into position. The excess cable can be coiled in the area of the diadnostic socket and tucked away.

This method allows you to fit the unit without trying to remove the heater fan switch and radio mounting console and you do not have to cut out a large aperture in the dashboard. All in all I am pleased with the tidy job and can now get my mpg reading directly from the display.

How much do these scanguages cost please???????

Posted

I arranged a group-buy of 14 pieces for my forum and we paid 119 euro a piece.

After that I had to ship each SGII individualy to each member so they paid an extra of 6 euro for shipping.

I like the idea of having a mpg display, but not keen on the design of the scangauge, looking whats else is available on the market the PLX product line look the business (DM-200) - could imagine them in place of the analogue rpm mod on an Aygo - if only they weren#t so expensive
