I bought my aygo from these guy's 2 years ago

http://www.autobytel.co.uk/NewCars/NewSear...;Body=HATCHBACK

they will put you thru to Inchcape Guilford , ask for Mark Bowey

It's worth a try

get some other quotes as well

all I can say is that 2 years ago I bought my aygo £600 below list price and they didn't mess me around

and they delivered it to my door for £5.999

touch wood , it's been a great car :)

the more quotes you get , the better

play them against each other

best of luck ;)

sledgy

I would love to be able to use one of those websites, however living in northern ireland means I am outside the range of these brokers who deal mainland only, or slap a large shipping charge on delivery to NI. :(

Latest update! He was trying to sell me GAP and what he calls an "On The Road Pack" which is just mud flaps, mats and fuel! Told him I didnt want either, and I wanted a discount on the list price.

He told me he had nothing to work with and that toyota didnt give them any margin to work with. Quoted me £8745 for the car.

Told him I could get it off an online broker for £8200, so he said he is going to speak to his boss tomoro to try and get a better price! ha!

Will be interesting to hear what he comes back with. In the meantime i am going to more dealers to see what their "best price" is.

Why is buying a car so complicated!?!

Well you have made a start but go back and push for that discount. Don't accept his statement where he says "Toyota didnt give them any margin to work with" as that is a lie! My daughter bought a new Aygo Black last July and the dealer instantly gave her £600 off the list price. I suggest you aim for that amount at least!

Good luck :)

Good news! I got him down to £8440! Which i am very pleased with, as i had originally set a price in mind for around £8500. So thats a new Aygo Blue 5dr with Style Pack headin my way in around 2 weeks time :-) Dunno how truthful he is being about delivery times, but oh well, its on the way! Woo Hoo!

Interesting to see so many people using such emotive words, when quite clearly they have no idea of what margins are in new cars, and to say he is lying about not having much margin is quite frankly wrong

The "margin" in an Aygo is peanuts, I could tell you exactly how much it is, but not in an open forum. The £600 discount would have included a percentage of the bonus the dealer will get to hit a particular target in a month, and he has chosen to give some or all of it away, in either a better part exchange price for your old car, or to offer a better discount off the new price.

Your dealer much prefers to take a good P/Ex off your hands because that is where he will make more profit, not by discounting new cars to below cost price. The days when the British makers were giving 30% plus off the cars to dealers has long gone.....thankfully, as it only adds to higher depreciation values.

You are quite correct, he did word it as "well the paperwork will say we are giving you an extra £400 for your mini and charging you list price", either way I am much happier. Thanks!

NO MARGIN??

What a load of cobblers, i got my Plaitimun with Aircon and protected pack for £7900. With a list of £8635, that £735 off, or 8.5% discount. Now i work for a finance company, so i know that by taking the 0% finance deal, the dealer will be getting virtually no commision on the loan, esspecially as when i pay it back early, the claw back from the finance company will make this zero.

It also had a full tank of petrol, a years tax, and for some reason the car had a full set of carpet mats under the rubber "protected pack" mats, i said nothing.

They also said that they would sort me out with a discounted service or a tank of petrol if i reffered anyone to them...which i have, so we will see what they offer me!

Does the dealer expect you to believe that there is NO margin?? Are they selling cars out of the goodness of thier own hearts.....Madness.

Rant over!
