it was on pistonheads too i think. when it was up for sale last time it had just had a respray. was looking at the time for a gxi but that colours not to my taste. your car looks really well kept - they put that roof spoiler on the dutch gt-si, nice touch  if i get another, well when i get another gxi i will put one of them roof spoilers on. if you sell it you will be gutted - i've got a t sport now but still want a gxi........

oh - i did look on autotrader too - maybe was on there?

Now that's what a proper car looks like! Not too keen on the colour, but do they do a diesel G.X.I.? And what would the insurance be like for an 18 year old male who has recently got their license? I would consider getting one if they do a diesel version.

DIESEL GXi? dont get me started  i got my GXi when i was 22 - past test at 17 - and the insurance was frightening

I think you can infer that was a no from ae102 regarding the GXi Diesel.

There are smaller engined Rollas such as the 1.3 Petrol Sportif, and there's a 2 litre (I believe) Diesel. Either would be a good choice of car for a new driver as the insurance groups are very low, they're relatively cheap to buy, and for their age they're incredibly reliable.

But this model of Rolla is from a time when manufacturers simply didn't consider making a sporty version of their diesels.

the other car that's the same coloour had just been painted beforer it was up for sale 2 years ago. not seen yours before. ye when i seen it i thought the guy had repainted it that colour then i found out it was a factory colour.you can clearly see you've looked after it - DONT SELL HER!! even if i'm not keen on the colour - although it is growing on me - i would buy her off you, but for what i have planned i couldnt do it to a nice example. you should take her to JAE and show her off :toast:

Well if you want the looks and good fuel economy then it would be great. I guess there would still be the option of modifing a normal Corolla though. Also, old diesels are increasing in value now because of the prospect of running them on vegetable oil. T600, thanks for the reply, nice to decipher that broken English for me :) I would rather have a diesel than a petrol because of the low down torque of a diesel, whereas a tiny 1300cc potrol would need alot of revs and wouldn't be as relaxing to drive.

1.3 Sportif SE will pick up just fine through 1st and 2nd, ok so its got nothing after that but if you're a law abiding citizen it wont matter ;)

I'm talking about smooth power delivery here. Diesels are better than petrols.

fair play if you want a lazy go in any gear engine then a derv is what you want

as for the OPs car, shame about that momo wheel, you still have the OEM one? (im not a big fan of aftermarket steering wheels truth be told)

a 1.3 rolla will get 50 - 60mpg, decent motor too. if you want smooth power delivery you need a petrol - diesel is all or nothing, whats smooth about that.

really, i thought the 1.3 Sportif/Sportif SEs were only booked at the low 30s?, doubt id get 50 even if i drove like an 80yr old

dervs of the same age wont do much better either, and wont have anywhere near as much go, old NA dervs really are horrendous

Nice looking rolla mate

i've had a 1300 rolla - 50mpg no bother - over 40 evan if you cane it. performance is suprisly good - revvy engine and light car. mine did over 200k b4 i sold it, 80k with me ragging it! i was 18 -20. only thing that went wrong was the alternator - shame we cant say that with these new eurobox toyota's.

lovely looking car, really like the colour, i had one of these a while back and to appreciate the colour you got to see it in the flesh

I saw that you had it advertised on PH too. £2500 is a bit strong, maybe last year you may have got it, but the gxi's have really dropped in their money

If i were you i would hold onto it, realistically you should get £1500 for it

hehe i never bothered working it out but seems i average 40-45 MPG out of mine  didnt realise that, coming up to my 1st full year of ownership in that time, headlights gone a bit wonky (broken mount, really should fix), duff rear windscreen heater (head scratcher that one, no broken connection, no blown fuse) in all fairness the car has only done 71k in 13yrs

and back on topic, as ive said, cracking car, shame about the choice of steering wheel, lovely tidy example with a lot of time put into taking care of it, unfortunately, like all cars of its age and type now, not worth a whole bundle, but certainly worth every penny it can still obtain (or just keep in and enjoy knowing itll take a fair amount to "run it into the ground")
