Computer Resetting

Hi All

I have a 2004 avensis D4D T3X. The computer has been ok until a couple of weeks ago when it reset it'self with about 2/3 of a tank of fuel.

I have tried all combinations of resetting without success, even refilling the tank but it still resets it'self every time time I restart the engine.

Any ideas

if you mean the needle going up and down, when you turn the ignition on,

its supposed to do that

no.

what I mean is the miles travelled on the computer resets to zero each time I start the engine

any help would be appreciated

i used to have the same car as you and had 3 new units replaced under warranty. i found that if i drove on our drive, which is on a slight slope, then the display would be reset the next time i came to use it. if i reversed on it would be fine. i presumed the car must be fooled into tinking it had been refilled and reset itself. they never did figure it out though.

I thought it was supposed to reset itself every time you start the engine...Miles travelled.... Since you started...

It is. And even if it was working properly it would be rubbish. Mine is so inaccurate and frankly can't be relied on.
