Hi All,

Pre facelift car

Does anyone have this Strut brace (i know plenty have other brands), if you have did it fit easily and was there any need to bend brake pipes etc?

PS My local dealer is 100% adamant you cant get these, when i showed him the web he checked the part no and still nothing, i went home emailed TTE in Germany and got this part no instead 48690YW501, this relates to damping support bar, lets see if the dealer will let me order one!

Why is it so difficult

Rant over B)

I was looking at strut brace for a pre-facelift. What put me off buying one is there must have been a reason why toyota put that damper i the strut brace for the facelift in the first place. Got to ask yourself it you stiffen the front of the car up, what part of the car are you putting the stress through then, they must want some bit of flex for some reason? I think that damper one is expensive also. TTE one on the website just looks like a bar.

Thats a crowd that do strut braces for are car, have to scroll down a bit to see them thou.

T-sport Strut Brace -

RHD -

Right Side Bracket - 48607-12040

I took all the above to my local dealer (with no luck) thats what prompted the email to TTE in Germany, the number they gave seems to relate to the right thing.

I have no worries on the fixed bar, i expect it to take most of the stress, i am more concerned about bending the brake pipes.

From the piccy on TTE's website it doesn't look like fitting should be a problem

And it does say "easy fitting"

If I understand this correctly, the reason for different part numbers is that the part numbers displayed on the TTE homepage are not used by Toyota, they have different number so part 48690-YW501 and TD460-19917-00 is the one and same part, the first number being Toyota, the other TTE number. In most cases Toyota part numbers for TTE & TMS parts, start with PZ, that also applies to most genuine Toyota accessories part numbers.

Strut Brace - 48690-12020, this part number is for the stock front strut brace on facelift models.

If the above is what comes on a facelift car, do you have the definitive number for the TTE Strut brace available for pre face lift cars?

It should be 48690-YW501 , the TTE strut brace is the same for pre-facelift and facelift models, AFAIK.

For lot of strut bars out there for the prefacelift u need to bend that abs pipe or buy a 'facelift' abs pipe but im guessing u dont neen to bend or change the pipe for the TTE one shown on that website as that page shows a prefacelift car ! so im guessing that TTE strut bar part no. is for a prefacelift model unless there is a foot not or small print somehting.......

i not seen the invo auto link for like 2 yrs!!lol how can i forget thay sell strut bars for the Corolla however one of the cars looked like the pipe was bent upward to accomodate it!lol oh well i got my strut bar fitted now, went thorugh enough trouble to fit it though  but worth it i say.
