Fitting Wind Deflectors

Took delivery of my 4.3 wind deflectors today,(THANKS KINGO) any way only read fitting instructions so far.seems reasonably simple only 1/2 an hour to fit

so should take me about 3 days , 3 little clips and 3 little bits of clear sticky plastic look a bit ominous, but sure i can cope, only other doubt, dont fit below 15 degrees.as i have to fit them outside, and dont want to wait till August, can i heat area up with fan heater/hair dryer or get wife to breathe on them, and if so is this temp only needed for the initial sticking or will i have to heat up the whole of Cheshire for several hours, in which case has anyone got 7000 patio heaters i can borrow?

Thanks :help:

P.S Thought they would come in a boomerang shaped parcel but in fact a nice oblong box

Certain plastic things become brittle in colder weather as you will know. Take a bucket of hot water outside and use that to keep the bits warm. as you use the parts, you may stand in the bucket to remove the threat of chilblains.

On the sticky tape stuff, I don't know what this is, but again application of hot water can leave a residual heat. the other way is to use a fan heater if it makes you feel better. the plastic will break, but at least you can claim the heater manufacturer for 'not fit for purpose'.

Did you actually think what the box is for? Well, you set it alight and allow it to heat the parts sufficiently - cunning eh?? Thats where the bucket comes back into the scene.....

Frankly, Mr _Buyer, I find your idea ridiculous. Surely the best way is to put the car into your garage, and turn the heating up to match the suggested temperature.

The use of a spotlight or two can provide additional heat - like the ones I have in my bathroom.

I prefer to set fire to next doors hedge Nettie. Not seen those bathroom spotlights for years - I thought they had been banned through global warming.

Stewart

You might be lucky tomorrow if you can just catch the sun it will raise the surface temperature above 15C. You can always warm it with a hair dryer but stay away with that hot air paint stripper :nono:

If it takes you 3 days you're in trouble!

Fitted them to-day without setting anything on fire Thanks for advice and offer of your bathroom (i think) Nettie. All went well 25 mins for first side and about 10 mins for 2nd side. So i am now an expert, and if you need an experienced deflector fitter, Kingo, i'm your man..made me realise just how clever these Japs are, one insruction had a picture of an eye and a pencil, had me baffled, but wife kept calling me in for my tea and on her last shout i poked her in the eye with the pencil and she went away. Brilliant these Japs think of everything.

Added a wind deflector to ma RAV seat as a trial. However the metal funnel prevents the drivers door frae shutting so the wind will just hae tae deflect the way it always dis....oot the windae!

Will gladly photo later, not give it a decent clean after my Scottish adventure yet, remember that Dragon stainless grill Dave, well i ordered it from Formula 4... 6wks ago and they tell me it will be another 4 wks, must be hand making it for me in China or somewhere, either that or the dragons gone on strike, which reminds me i bought a 4.3 grill off flea-bay for £10. its NOT aT180 grill i thought about having it chromed, not viable apparently, or colour coding

it but lost interest. so if any body wants one to play with just cover postage and its yours.

Bothy. dont know where you get these ideas from, you must have a brilliant brain, Do odor eaters not do seat covers? or wait till you pass a sewage farm then you can sneak one out and say "God that smell from outside is terrible " obviously in a Scottish accent..

Aye - overly blighted with too many cells - although feverishly tried to reduce them with whisky, they multiply instead! Invincibility follows! As it happens the worlds largest sewage farm - Daldowie - is up wind from where we stay; and adjacent to Daldowie Crematorium (must've been a Councillor having a laugh a few years ago). The downside of my efforts have been corrosive vapour causing front bullbar and rear step to corrode. And now I have a clunk on turning right...think its the wheel bearing and not me!

Yes quite chuffed with them, can leave window down an inch or two and very little noise, also dont tell anyone but i smoke, :shutit: , and obviously helps to clear that and can leave open a bit if we leave our dog in the car, so a good buy all round really..

Thanks for asking Kingo, the swelling has gone down now, and i have re-sharpened the pencil, so all is well again, was going to take her to casualty but instructions also said not to drive car for 4 hrs,and i thought it was a bit far for her to walk as nearest one is 5 mls away, but she's fine now and should be able to remove the eye patch soon..
