Avensis Need Spray Paint For Broken Wing-mirror

Hi there,

Can anyone tell me whats this all about. My Toyota dealer, Jemka, have refused to sell me an aftermarket paint. The code is 1C0. They have told me that Toyta have stopped making that paint and is impossible to get it. Advised me to go to Halfords. What ???

My Avensis D4D is 04 plate and the wife has broken the cover of the wing mirror. I need some spray paint to spray the new cover as aparently it doesn''t come colour coded from Toyota. But you can not buy the paint either.

As I write this, it sounds to me as a lot of BUL.... but thats what Jemka Toyota have told me.

Anybody out there have any sugestion. I would like the original 1C0 paint and not some dogy mix up. Thanks.

Halfords supply a decent paint service nowadays - not a 'dodgy mix up' anymore.

If it's a recent colour it may be available ready done in the shop, alternatively they can mix to order if it's a strange one.

Aftermarket paint frequently gets a bad press due to poor application. It's not just a case of point and squirt.

Seriously though, if it's no longer available from Toyota ( I'm sure Kingo can clarify this for you ) then Halfords is the next best place.

Good luck

PM parts king to check whether it's available.

IIRC someone else was told their code was no longer available by their local Mr T and he managed to get it.

PS - surely there's no way an 04 paint can be discontinued. But I second Boro Sera's comments about the Halfords paint - it's way better than it used to be.

Halfords paint is pretty good. But if your near Jemca - LONDON- NW9 ? Nip down to Wilsons Paint Shop in Cricklewood & they will mix you up a tin of top quality paint for 1/2 the price. They deal purely with body repair & sell everything you require for body repair. I don't work for them, but used them for many many years.

Thanks a lot for the help,

I am not a profesional painter/sprayer and all I can imagine is that if I go to any other shop to get some mix up, it would never be 100% same as the original. Toyota have disapointed me. My colour code is 1C0 (briliant silver) and I think that this must be the most popular paint amongst the new Avensisis. They still make and sell them with the same colour. Due to the above reasons I have still not given up, it just doesn't make sence if I am to buy Avensis tomorow, not to be able to get original aftermarket paint from Mr T.

Mr. T sort it out !!!

To Kashbg.

Sorry my misunderstanding. When I say paint I should have said they will mix you up the exact colour code in a spray can & not a pot of paint. They sell to general public as well as trade. I think you might find also that most off the car dealers from West Hendon up to Colindale also use them for crash repair supplies.
