Gear Issues

Hi all, first post here. I'm posting on behalf of my girlfriend, she has a 51 plate 1.5 yaris T-sport with 90k on the clock. She is having problems with gear selection, it is very knotchy and sometimes hard to get in gear, especially first and reverse. Is this likely to be a clutch issue or something else? Common problem perhaps? Thanks

lube the linkage pivot point on top of the gear box first ie give it s good WD40 squirt

Funny thing to suggest, i know, but my mats prevented my clutch pedal moving all the way to the biting point unless I was pressing really hard.

mats out, smooth shifts.

There's also a bolt you can adjust to raise the clutch pedal.

most likely the syncro is worn

Funny you should mention that about the clutch pedal, I've taken the car for a drive and the biting point is definately too low. Where is the adjuster for the pedal? Thanks.

^ look up under the dash and it's obvious - its a bolt on the top of the pedal!
