I need a new set of tyres soon after roughly 14K miles on my second set. The original set lasted about 17.5K.

Has anyone tried Toyo 350s? They seemed to be the cheapest available - 135quid for all four including fitting. Are they worse or better than the original Contis??

I picked up 4 conti's for £160 incl fitting. Is £25 saving really worth it in the long run?

All I know is that the Conti's have won numerous awards for their EcoContact3 tyre. I presume the toyos also entered the competition.

The stealer put Firestones on mine (£42 each). These also seem to get OK reviews.

It's not all about saving 25quid - it's just the Contis wear out too quickly - I was looking for either Michelin or Pirelli ones when I came across Toyos - some fitters sell them for the same prices as Michelin/Pirelli, and I was wondering if I found a bargain or not.

I don't think I'll buy the Ecocontact 3's again - what ever awards it won, my experience says it doesn't last long enough! And I don't drive particularly fast although I must admit I have burnt rubbers on a few occasion at roundabouts...

I guess Toyos aren't any better if am looking for long life tyres then?

i had a set of budgets on my ka... in 14 months i covered approx 12500 miles and they had LOADS of tread left!

If you are looking for long tyre life I would avoid pirellis. I had some p3000 on my previous mini and they were gone at 10,000, had some toyo t1-r tyres after that and they were on 19,000 when someone kindly wrote my car off, they would probably have done around 25,000.

Where did you get those from ? I need a new tyre as my ex (previous owner) scuffed the wheel and has a slight cut in it , not deep yet but would rather get it done sooner than later and am looking at getting contis as imo , they have lasted well on my aygo ...

I have toyo's with my new alloys. They are the best of the Aygo from experience. The bugjet tyres seem to wear really quickly, i had mine replaced at 10k, which seems pointless. Best to Shell out a bit more on tyres for a good name, you're more likely to get a good life out of them

The contis are awful to be honest. They are great for minimising rolling resistance and make the Toyos seem slightly sluggish at low speeds. However the Contis are really noisy compared and the Toyos are surefooted, quiet (especially considering they are very wide!).

I know this as I've had to swap my Toyo Proxes back out as my insurance was due and the cheapest (by £150) wouldnt allow non-optional extra alloys :(

I don't think you are comparing like with like,as your Toyo proxes were much wider tyres than is standard on the Aygo.

So,yes,Toyo Proxes are a great tyre, but to say that they feel more sure footed that the Continental OEM tyres is unfair as you have not done a same size comparison.

My fronts are on their last legs..........14500 miles :o but still legal.

I would have fitted TOYO but fell on an unused set of 4 conti's (Taken off an aygo at 10 miles to have alloys fitted) for £80 :P At that price I don't mind if they wear out fast.

TOYO will be going on next time, they make very good tyres generally so they won't be any worse than over priced conti's

I was looking at the FAQ section for the Aygo and came across this sentence:

"The recommended tyre fitments are therefore 13" 155/70/13, 14" 165/60/14, 15" 195/45/15 and 16" 195/40/16. "

Can I fit 165/60/14 on the Aygo's optional Alloy Wheels? I mean is it safe to do so if it is possible at all?

I went for the Toyos in the end.

I've had them for about three weeks now and I feel they have less grip on wet roads. Oddly enough I think they have more grip than the Contis when dry...

I haven't noticed much difference with regards to mpg I'm getting.

May be this is unrelated to having had the tyres changed but ever since I go them the ABS is getting engaged more often. Is this a sign that I have to have new brake/pads soon?
