As the AYGO is now 3 years old - do any of you out there who saw the light early & purchased a 2005 model consider extending the warranty from mr T once the 3 year period is up? (I'm not even sure they offer this service or how much it might cost).

Am new owner - but just curious as to how people feel how their Aygo is going after 3 years.

It might be worth looking at companies like warranty direct, or other web based companies. I know some dealers basically use these themselves. When I had my SEAT, they didn't offer a manufacturer extended warranty.

Maybe worth putting what you'd spend on a warranty into a bank account, if you don't need it after 2/3 years you'll have a decent sum in the bank.

ours is up and we just bought another year. you can go up to seven years. given the clutch and some other bit failed and cost toyota 2.5k in parts alone we're going to keep with it. throw in the three wipers, boot button, squeaky seats, leaky door, aircon that filled the cabin with smoke, hazard switch that fell off etc etc etc......

the only reason the car is still with us is because soon it will be congestion zone free and pay us back. found that out a day after putting down a deposit on a polo and trading it in. it is an '05 car - seems as this was the first run there have been a number of issues ironed out in later production. yes you can save up your money and probably will be lucky - given our experiences so far we're renewing.

i'm not saying they are bad cars, just that we seem to have been unlucky!!

I thought it was already congestion zone free. That's what our dealer told us.

Just checked on tfl website - will be 100% discount from 27 Oct 2008 (with £10 registration fee).

it will be congestion zone free from october but you have to pay today. we have had it since '05 - works out about 2k a year. still cheaper than two people getting the bus and the tube.

Do you pay a lower charge at present for the low CO2 emissions or is it a standard charge?

I was born in Fulham & lived the first 43 years of my life in SW London. Moved to Dorset a year ago & bought a car for the first time in 15 years. Best move I've ever made. Miss going down to Craven Cottage on a saturday though - not doing very well this season!

SW london as well - I'd love to do what you have done! its a flat charge of 8 pounds right now regardless of emmissions - all change in October though. It is a bit annoying having to pay every day now knowing it is 'exempt'. The CO2 thing is for lorries/HGV only - 200 a day if they don't meet some standard - I don't know much about that one except that a lot of them were seriously unhappy about it.

I’d only consider getting extended warranty if I was going to sell it privately and wanted to get a good price, or if I had really low mileage. I think 3 yrs/60,000 miles is long enough to discover any problems.
