Recently needed to take my car in as i dropped from 2 broken wheel studs to 3! on one wheel.

Gave it to toyota and boy did they not only take the hair off my head, they even went and started taking my body hairs off with pricing.

Firstly.... Before they fixed my problem,

They commented on the brakes, Pads need changing.....O Wait Brake Discs Look Damaged.

"O Dear...The alloys dont fit right" They fitted perfect, I had them properly fitted, exact right offset and PCD. With the right nuts for the car.

The wheel studs broke from the original wheels being over tightened!

Next....The car would fail an MOT, Because the brake light on the top where a spoiler goes, the bulb had died...OK Big Deal, " Its a cheap Bulb MR ALI"

MR ALI SAYS "How Much"

MR T SAYS "£12" :o

YEA RIGHT M8 50P IN LOCAL AUTO SHOP. :P

Next this car is not safe....its wheels are damaged....HOW...NOT A SINGLE SCUFF ON EM, NO BUCKLES AT ALL... THERE 2 BIG...WEIRDO THEY ARE NOT 20" THERE 17"...ANY COMPLAINT....

And then i thought, back to the point how much for the wheel studs....£7.50 a stud plus labour.

Fine not a problem as it had to be done.

All in all came up to £112 Not bad.... 3 Replacement studs with labour is ok.

I get a phone call ....SHALL WE REPLACE THE BRAKES MR ALI...ERM YEA I SAY.

HOW MUCH WILL IT BE....

he gave a price for disks pads and everything....

£560

Does it look like a have £560 to give hello im 18.

I say NO. not no thanks ill deal with it later.

A GOOD BLANK "NO"

grabbed the car and drove away from toyota parts and services as fast as i could to my local tyre exhaust and brake place who i have had everything normally fitted on the car from. They are a great place, deal with M3, Top end cars i know i can trust them as family has all car work done from them.

Asked them for a price for the brake pads, discs and everything....£200

thats supply all the parts plus labour. Bargain done sameday as i got the car back from toyota picked the car up at 6 drove home very happy indeed.

Never braked so well since i bought it.

Point of the story....Why are dealers so expensive...?

AND AVOID THEM ! :D

Those nice shiny showrooms cost a lot to operate, new cars don't make them any money service and parts are the money makers £££££££.

Service and warranty work only, anything else find a local garage you trust.

Right on both accounts!

As a side note recently the breaking of wheel studs is becoming very common on cars bult in the last 5 years.

A few years ago the wheel nut would always be made of a softer metal than the stud (or stud made of harder metal than nut! :P ) thus if over tightened happened then it was always easy to replace a nut!

So don't feel to bad about that problem it's become VERY common!

few months ago i need to change the rear brake pad for my corolla,

my father go to Mr T and quote the price £15X

ok, fair enough, resonable price, so few days later, i go to Mr T to book a time and get it done, this time he told me £ 2XX, i said " my father had came and quote the price few days ago, u guys say it is £15X

, howcome it is £ 2XX now??' he said "£120 for labour cost"

******** it, take less than an hour to change the rear break pads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think becuase i am a teenager, they may think i know nothing about car................

Anyhow, i have bought the break pad from Mr T and changed it by myself.... it is not difficult!!!!!
