Unknown Light

Ok folks......am a bit 'girlie' when it comes to car so have a question

I have an L reg imported RAV4 L. On the console there is the usual petrol light at the bottom, engine light above that and then another light that looks like a car with the rear lights on...........I have no idea what this is. It comes on intermittently and I'm hoping someone can tell me what the heck it is.

oN MY 9/94 rav I have had a look at the handbook and the only thing that resembles a car shape is the open door warning light. So maybe its a Jap thing????

Hi and welcome. What colour is the warning light, please?? Can you add any further detail - is the car viewed from above or the side, etc?? Might help isolate its meaning, or at least eliminate some things!

Hackles raised; RAV away to get front nearside joints checked as the wheel wobbles at 150mph; landrover now centre of attention as I peruse fitting a refurbished jet engine to the front of it. Paignton is a distance away so will need some speed.....

Are you sure you have a RAV4? Or is it a landrover with a RAV4 Badge on it??? :D :P :D You did say its imported, but the RAV only came as a GX or GL I'm sure...maybe you have a different car altogether? Photo??

Make sure you don't hit any sheep with that landrover.....they wander a lot around here

Assuming its a photo of the RAV you want - I'll take one tomorrow and post it.....but I'm pretty sure - although the guide book is in Japanese so I could be driving around in a Sushi wagon!

As regards the earlier question about the light....its an outline of a car, in orange, viewed from above, front facing up towards the windscreen and its got lines coming from where the rear lights would be.....

Ye - thats why I get given lots of tablets!!! Its the only thing that - oooops - too much info....

The landys sheepbar is made of stronger stuff than the old RAV bull bar + its front bumper is made from cast iron girders. Part from the fact that its raised a few inches to travel over sheep, dugs, and drunk Welshmen.

Take a photo of the dash light on as well if you can - its ok, long as you aren't drinking at the same time - don't drink and drive and don't use a phone but its ok to use a camera cos thats wot the 'safety' polis do. :angry:

No...there are about five straight short lines coming from each rear corner.....like a light beam

Dugs? Don't see many dugs running over Dartmoor!

Take a photo of the dash light on as well if you can -

I will when it comes on...AND I'll take a pic of the car......just to quell any doubts thats its in disguise!

Hi Peachy,only guessing but has your car got or had rear parking sensors ? if so i would guess this light is to tell you they are in working order

Hadn't thought about that guys.....manual is in Japanese so i guess a trip to a Toyota dealer is required

Hmmmm - now I'm jealous cos its not on my 94 RAV!

I know a couple of folk in Japan if need be to translate the manual, altho a quick visit to the local university would be as good....making sure they do Japanese as a course.

I'm not sure the local uni can speak english let alone Japanese! - I may have to take you up on that!
