any one using an ipod link with the standard head unit (E12), whats your reccomendations and more importantlywhat features have you access to , ie , random selection , sort by artist etc

Have you seen the Harmon Kardon I Drive, I think they may work its a nice bit of kit really sleek adaptable with any headunit or stereo. And it was going on eBay dirt cheap brand new clearance £25

think about 40 on eBay now as clearence finished and there selling last few.

Type in Harmon Kardon I Pod in search in eBay and have a look thats the best i can suggest for standard stereo

i use the Dension kit.

connects to the cd changer port on the OEM headunit.

i saw the dension kit , think its called the icelink ,. can you slect shuffle on it and select by artist, album etc ?

no.. it basically treats the ipod exactly like a cd changer (using ipod playlists).

playlist 1 - 5 are CD 1 - 5. this part can be done using the normal controls on headunit or steering wheel.

CD6 breaks into the ipod menu on the ipod and you can then manually choose music. this part has to be done physically on the iopd.

it does not display artist/track info on the headunit.. just the usual CD1 track 1 etc.

it is completely "hard wired" though, which i like, and i have the ipod cable coming out thru a little hole in the cubby hole underneath the heater controls.

sounds ideal , was thinking of stashing it in there too :)
